@richarddeitsch New York City didn’t host any matches, Richard. Neither did half those places including San Fran.

Congratulations to the 11 U.S. host cities — Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey/New York City (called a "third world hellhole" on Fox News), Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle — for making visitors feel welcome.

Despite political drama and a disappointing end to the U.S. team’s run, the 2026 World Cup proved to be an eye-opening affirmation of American soft power. wsj.com/sports/soccer/…

@ManagerTactical Sport is done if Spain wins.
They are boring to watch.
Give me the 3rd place game..
English

@MaxBretosSports More entertaining than ANY Spain match.

Go and tell us the 3rd Place Match is stupid.
Put this down as yet another thing the punditry class has been wrong about at this amazing World Cup.

hi my name is tom bogert and i would like to sincerely apologize for making fun of the third place game

@TheAthleticFC The summer afternoon time slots have been stupid, actually. Especially in outdoor venue with no roof.
Host nations should have prime time slots.

Despite MetLife’s obvious drawbacks, it was the venue of choice for FIFA for the most popular sporting event on the planet, with a global audience expected to exceed one billion people.
The most obvious appeal is the time slot, which works well for European, North American, and South American broadcasters, though less well for Asian markets.
Mexico’s Azteca Stadium, the largest-capacity stadium of this World Cup (ahead of MetLife by a couple of hundred seats), was not considered, as the final was always going to be in the United States.
FIFA is, however, still taking a certain amount of risk with the field, given criticisms of MetLife’s pitch during the tournament and the prospect that the half-time show, featuring Madonna, Shakira, BTS and Justin Bieber, will take place at least partly on the pitch.

NEW: Fox Sports has plans to bid for the 2030 World Cup. They would love Rebecca Lowe, Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back if they get 2030. And they could not be more pumped by the viewership and how things have gone.
