BREAKING: Sir Keir Starmer's chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, has resigned, citing the mistake of appointing Mandelson as US ambassador. Has there ever been an example where an advisor has resigned over a particular decision that was implemened by his boss (on the advisor's advice), but the boss himself actually stayed in post? I find it very odd. It makes it seem as though the buck stops with McSweeney, when of course it stops with the PM.

Once you hit a fiscal point of no return, the costs of macroeconomic adjust (either tax rises or budget cuts) become too politically costly and economically damaging to the fragile low equilibrium we have today.
We talk about working age benefits being unsustainably high alongside with the triple lock, but in many parts of the country it’s these state transfers powering much of the consumption we see, supporting the firms who pay corporation taxes, business rates and employ people who pay income tax and NIC.
Serious readjustment would come with high political costs and economic turbulence.
There’s a lack of people in politics with the appetite to face this.

I don’t think socialism = higher taxes, permanently. It’s about distribution of assets and the means of production 😏 But let’s be real, Badenoch just hasn’t got backbone to talk about triple lock, various VAT exemptions or changing income tax threshold (which should be reduced)

URGENT STATEMENT WORKERS PARTY At 11am we were informed by police officers in Gatwick that our party leader George Galloway and his wife have been detained at the airport @sussex_police @BTP . The police agreed that they would pass a message to our comrades from us and pass back a reply from them. Despite repeated attempts to gather further information, and despite repeated calls to the police, we have no further information on their wellbeing, nor on the observation of their Rights. There is no information on charges or alleged offences. Therefore we may conclude this is politically motivated intimidation. We call on all supporters and friends to amplify this message and demand the IMMEDIATE RELEASE of our leaders.

Digital ID has nothing to do with immigration, just think critically for 3 seconds.
Britain currently has up to 1 million illegal immigrants. Many, if not most, are known to the authorities. And yet they're still here. The reason they're here is NOT that we can't identify them (the problem Digital ID is supposed to solve), the problem is that we won't deport them even when we know who they are.
This is not about immigration, it's about building CONTROL INFRASTRUCTURE. It's why Blair tried and failed to push them through 20 years ago.
Imagine that governments which routinely arrest people for jokes and memes, locked people in their homes during COVID and think half the country is "far right" have these tools at its disposal.
And, some of you are convinced half the country really is "far right" and are about to elect that evil fascist Herr Farage. You want him to have this control infrastructure at his disposal?
This needs to be opposed by everyone across the political spectrum. It has nothing to do with what you're being told: Starmer is lying to you and so are his media lackeys.
