@Dennizen12 @EMTElaina @AlmohsenMo23304 I dont really care about the original discussion but blitz obliterate KT and branded tho (never played the invoked MU for now but since you can run shifter and fissure in the deck I assume it must be a fine MU too)

Elaina | Fraux main | That card game addict
If banishing extra deck monster(s) effects can stop your deck from functioning then maybe you should try playing decks that don’t rely on extra deck when that effect is popular Such simple logic yet nobody seems to understand this fact

@PeepsYGO @fedginator I really do think it can be a useful idea for balance, but I do agree that not every archetype that uses these cards has been designed with compensation in mind. That should obviously be something to keep in mind when creating support and new strategies in the future.

@PeepsYGO @fedginator I think if your deck has strong tools to go second, it can be fine to have cards like these. Angelechy Problem has e4, Sangen Summoning has Kaimen, Maliss in Underground has Accesscode Talker.

while I do think the interactions highlighted in this thread do come up a lot, I think it's a little more complicated. If we go back just a year or two, there are decks that were popular in part due to these cards. Nightmare Throne and Maliss in Underground were excellent cards.

Peeps@PeepsYGO

As someone who started making content around the balance of modern decks, I constantly think about this incredible thread discussing how decks are flawed in design. They do well going first, but fall flat going second. This is important when looking at the WCQ results 🧵-

lastly, i should also give credit: i think peeps bringing up the toon field spell is one of the best examples of this kind of thing on the horizon, and something you will be seeing more of in the future.

lord knows how dogged on ritual summoning was before nekroz/mitsu, or fusion summon was before shaddoll/branded. a flip monster archetype topped tournaments this year. it's all the same stuff to me.

@fedginator The threat of cyberse wicckid as an answer to detonator often meant that you had to use your detonator on individual bodies before they made it. in that context, i think it's okay for a card like underground to not always resolve.

@fedginator i agree! i just don't think there needs to be any sort of change needed for this, it's something that card designers can account for and even use as a balancing tool. Maliss had access to some of the best going second tools of the time in Impulse and Shifter.
