Almost as much as having to explain we can’t just dump the tax deduction for employer-sponsored health insurance, because it would have the effect of a tax hike. So something—payroll or income taxes—have to be cut at the same time, a tricky calculation.

My favorite SS nugget that people don't realize? That FICA is after tax $ - W-2 recipients pay income tax on 100% of the $ they pay in FICA.

@OfPlus @DianaVilliers1 That tweet is not part of this thread, so I'm not sure why you're bringing it up but: 1 and 2 are tweaking a system that is fundamentally bad. 3, 4, and 5 are all good ideas that should have been done decades ago.

@DarinAnderson10 @DianaVilliers1 As someone who has worked for Republican Presidents (and when in private sector, campaigns) since Reagan 1), I am well aware that the next candidate always is worse than the last (we used to laugh our asses off hearing that in the Dole campaign).

@OfPlus @DianaVilliers1 oh ya, Trump is far from the first "literally Hitler" that has lead the Republican party. It is why it doesn't work anymore. 20 years of this and nobody care about "literally Hitler" stuff anymore, I just want results.
