@aakashgupta Okay but why would they rate the iPad mini with a E, that sort of destroys the whole argument

Apple gave itself the worst possible rating. On purpose. And the strategy is smarter than anyone's giving them credit for. The EU started requiring energy labels on all phones and tablets in June 2025. A to G scale, just like your refrigerator. Covers energy efficiency, drop resistance, repairability, water resistance. Apple's iPhones qualified for an "A" on energy efficiency by their own testing. They voluntarily submitted a "B." Three iPad lines, the standard iPad, the Pro, and the Air, all got "G." The literal worst score on the chart. The iPad mini scraped an "E." Apple then published a 44-page document explaining exactly why they downgraded themselves. The EU's testing protocols contain ambiguous language on surface materials for drop tests, interpretation of battery workload measurements, and standardization of efficiency calculations. Apple's argument: if a third-party lab interprets the rules differently and scores them lower than what Apple claimed, the PR damage is worse than just taking the hit upfront. Read that again. Apple would rather display the worst energy rating in its own stores than risk someone else giving them a bad grade they didn't control. That tells you everything about how Apple thinks about brand. They don't optimize for the score. They optimize for narrative control. A self-assigned G is a protest. A third-party G is a verdict. The 44-page document is the actual product here. Apple is betting that the technical community reads it, that journalists cover the controversy, and that the label system loses credibility before it gains consumer trust. They're speed-running the refrigerator-label playbook: comply loudly, complain publicly, let the regulator defend a system that rates a $1,299 iPad Pro the same as the cheapest Android tablet on the shelf. The EU projected these labels would save consumers €20 billion by 2030. Apple just made sure every tech outlet is writing about how the ratings are unreliable instead.

love that the eu forced Apple to proudly display in store that their iPads are built shitty

@aakashgupta Charlie has a long history of sensational interview. 10g of cocaine per day is practically the limit a human can survive. 100g is a 10x from here, that doesn't look very likely ... And that's above 3 weeks which is even less likely.

A Mexican drug cartel looked at Charlie Sheen's cocaine orders and decided he had to be a dealer. He was just smoking it himself. Nearly 4.5 pounds in three weeks. That's roughly 2,000 grams, about 97 grams a day. A heavy recreational user goes through 3 to 5 grams daily. Sheen was consuming at 20x that rate, outpacing the cartel's actual distribution clients whose entire job was reselling it. The cartel did what no institution in Hollywood would. They ran a risk assessment on their most profitable customer and walked away. Their reasoning: anyone moving that volume is either a dealer creating competition or a spotlight creating law enforcement attention. The revenue wasn't worth the exposure. CBS was paying Sheen $1.8 million per episode at the time. His agents were negotiating raises. Warner Bros kept writing checks. The entire entertainment industry watched a man consume cocaine at wholesale distribution volume and responded by making him the highest-paid actor in television history. His own dealer eventually staged an intervention. Started replacing the cocaine with increasing amounts of baking soda until Sheen was smoking pure baking soda. A street-level drug dealer ran a more effective harm reduction program than every agent, manager, and studio executive in Los Angeles. Sheen's peak net worth hit $150 million. He later sold his Two and a Half Men residuals, estimated at $100 million lifetime value, for $27 million. Current net worth: roughly $3 million. The only entity in Charlie Sheen's orbit that accurately priced the risk of his behavior was a Mexican drug cartel. They were also the only ones who stopped enabling it.
dank@cptdankkk

Charlie Sheen reveals the cartel cut him off after he smoked over 4 pounds of cocaine in 3 weeks Charlie: "When the cartel says, 'Hey, your man is dealing. If we're supplying that kind of weight, your guy is a dealer and that's just the way it is'" "It looked like that to them, but he had to explain who their customer was and that it just wasn't something this guy would ever do" Graham: "And that was on the heels of smoking almost four and a half pounds of cocaine over three weeks" Charlie: "No, it wasn't snorting. It was smoking"

@TGTM_Official What about both at the same time? I see a vulnerable leader of a declining nation who still pretends to be powerful. And I see China perfectly understanding this situation by flattering his ego to curry favors.

No country embodies the law of the jungle in its diplomacy quite like China. It unhesitatingly humiliates the vulnerable leader of a declining nation, while bending over backwards to flatter and curry favor with the tough leader of a far more powerful one—Chinese people, regardless of their political ideology, only bow to the strong.

@nano_tech_2020 @EndGameWW3 China has an incentive to not do... anything. The US got into that mess and it's only going to get worse. There is absolutely zero incentive for China to help the US - unless of course China gets a lot in return. And China might well get that ...

@EndGameWW3 China is using their strategic oil reserves. They have an incentive to not have a protracted disruption in oil access. There is some leverage including trade that could nudge China to lobby Iran towards a better settlement.

Paul Tudor Jones was the first and biggest Bitcoin bull on Wall St. In before Saylor in 2020. He's famous for his quote: "Bitcoin is the fastest horse" Here's what he just said in this week's podcast: "Bitcoin is unequivocally the best inflation hedge that there is. The problem with it is… cyber warfare & quantum computing." One of the best investors of our lifetime, a hugely influential and respected veteran and once mega Bitcoin bull, Paul spoke primarily to the threat of quantum computing when Bitcoin was raised. Bitcoin cannot ignore the Quantum threat, and implementing post-quantum signatures should be our only priority.

Something is off here. Hantavirus doesn't spread between humans. It spreads through rat piss. There's exactly one exception, and the cruise that just had 3 deaths sailed straight out of it. You catch it by inhaling aerosolized particles from rodent urine, feces, or saliva. Sin Nombre in the US. Seoul virus in Asia. Puumala in Europe. Forty-plus strains, one route of infection. You do not pass them to your spouse. The exception is the Andes virus, found only in Chile and southern Argentina. Mortality runs 30-40%. A 2019 outbreak in Argentine Patagonia killed 9 people and forced a judge to order a 30-day lockdown on an entire town to stop the chain. The MV Hondius left Ushuaia on April 1. Ushuaia sits at the southern tip of Tierra del Fuego, in the heart of Andes country. The first death was a 70-year-old Dutch man. Symptoms hit April 6. He was dead by April 11. Five days from fever to respiratory failure on a ship in the South Atlantic. His wife, who shared his cabin, collapsed at Johannesburg's airport on April 26 trying to fly home and died at the hospital. PCR confirmed hantavirus. Contact tracing is running on every passenger from her flight, routed through one of the busiest hubs on the African continent. The husband almost certainly caught it ashore in Argentina before boarding. The wife, who never set foot in rodent country before joining him in their cabin, almost certainly caught it from him. WHO's Maria Van Kerkhove: "human-to-human transmission can't be ruled out." 7 cases so far. 1-to-6-week incubation. 38% case fatality rate when it goes pulmonary. This is the one hantavirus you don't want. On the one type of transport that breaks every containment assumption it has.
Polymarket@Polymarket

NEW: WHO confirms there are now 7 hantavirus cases on the cruise ship.

Bloomberg just dropped the Orbán tapes and it reads like a bad fanfic. Hungary’s prime minister spent a phone call with Putin calling him a “lion,” casting himself as the helpful little “mouse,” offering Budapest as a venue to end the war on Russia’s terms, and closing with “I am at your service.”

@NickRicci5 @WarMonitor3 FYI the US is helping Russia at the moment with high oil prices. They also sell weapons to the EU at the highest price. The US didn't give 1 cent to Ukraine for the last 1.5 years. Trump can't do more for Russia except maybe selling them weapons. Maybe it will happen, who knows.
