@OffAlexGardiner @PerriW2345 I think that result is OK for them though. 3% swing against but with three minor left candidates getting 8.9. Labor is down 8.7 but a lot of that would have gone straight to LNP.

Preference flows for the Stafford by-election. They've helped Labor turn around what looked like a defeat on first preferences. Might trigger the delayed plan to re-introduce optional preferential voting for Queensland elections.

@GriffoBJ Also, they dont seem to know what to do in opposition. Like their only message in this by-election was on stopping bed cuts.

@GriffoBJ I love Miles, but i think it comes down to the fact he was too closely associated with the last government. Also some of his poorer moments still stick with the public, like his giggles moment. Dick is just ineffective and its led to QLD Labor been unable to cut through

Steven Miles is probs the best Labor leader of the last 30 years. In the current political climate they could put Jonathan Thurston in charge of the party and still get rinsed. We’re probably gonna be LNP for the next decade but getting rid of Steven won’t make it any better

I think the most likely departure scenario is Albanese takes Labor to 2028 (and likely wins on a reduced majority) and then there’s a change of leader in the 3rd term

As a CPSU delegate, I remember when my union was telling us to campaign for Labor during the election because “Dutton will cut our jobs” and then Albanese campaigned against the Libs on Dutton’s proposed public service cuts. Why risk Dutton when you can risk Anthony doing the same thing 😂

People are very quick to jump to conclusions about Elijah Hollands, particularly given his history, but it’s worth remembering he has also been open about living with panic disorder. Panic disorder is a serious mental illness. It’s not just general anxiety or stress, it can present physically in really confronting ways. The jitteriness, brain fog, and that “not quite there” feeling are all very real symptoms. I’ve experienced it myself at a severe level and know how debilitating it can be. It nearly killed me. It’s not something people should be casually speculating about or dismissing.

Elijah Hollands footage is genuinely concerning. No matter who or how, no-one should be humiliated like that on national TV. Don’t want to point fingers but hope the club support him this week. This unfortunately is how tragedies unfold.
