@PenWrangler The drop in homicide the last few years has been so dramatic and so rapid it is certainly not due to magical advancements in medicine the last few years. What you speak of is true, but thats a decades-long gradual decrease.

You guys understand we’re going to lose the birthright citizenship case, right? Before you completely freak out, the traditional understanding of the 14th Amendment, which we are seeking to change, is not an insane reading of it. Nor are our arguments insane like the left has been same. That’s baloney to just shut us up. Neither side is frivolous. It’s a tough call legally and objectively speaking. But when we lose it, and I think we will, don’t freak out that this is some sort of conspiracy. It’s a hard legal decision. Sadly, we have three judges who aren’t even going to try to examine the question and will always vote for what leftists want. But the rest of the court has to make a tough legal call. I think our reading is the correct one. For various reasons, I think they’re going to rule against us. Don’t freak out when they do. It’s not an utterly irrational ruling like so many of the district court opinions we’ve seen.

It just feels so painfully obvious that the 14th amendment does not mean that a 9-months pregnant woman from Mexico can cross the Rio Grande illegally, give birth, and be allowed to stay because her child is now a natural born citizen.

if the SCOTUS decides that trump can simply overwrite parts of the constitution with an EO, then america is effectively finished. nothing stopping trump from overwriting any other amendment with an EO, either.

Their domicile was legal, and thus the holding doesn't find for different modern circumstances. It can't be applied universally. Plyler didn't establish citizenship as a basis, education wasn't dependent on citizenship status. It didn't explicitly declare they were a citizens, and thus got access. The courts haven't addressed the extent of the phrase. The court addressing it now doesn't overwrite the constitution, or even overturn precedent. Addressing such unanswered questions is the entire purpose of judicial review, not the "end of America." America doesn't hinge on the existence of anchor babies in either direction, and winning one executive order based scotus case is not carte Blanche to rewrite any amendment.
