Fun fact...the guy leading off first was in the 1987 All-Star game MVP @TimRaines30 in the last mid-summer classic I can remember both sides being invested in winning. For no other reason than wanting bragging rights over their AL counterparts. '87 was a special season for Raines

1987 MLB All-Star game at the Oakland Coliseum. Fun fact. Rookie Mark McGwire had 33 HRs which was topped only twice in MLB history at the time, Frank Howard 34 HRs (1969) and Reggie Jackson 37 HRs (1969).

It'll be interesting to see how Samanski approaches camp. IMO, if he thinks he has a job nailed down, he'd be mistaken.
If I were Colton Dach, I'd work on my ability to win faceoffs & playing centre.
The more he can do, the more opportunity he'll get in this Oilers lineup.

Bang on. I have zero issue with Bellingham's response, as he answered the question that was posed to him.
With that said, people suggesting there is friction here, are out to lunch. In fact, it's laughable.

Jude Bellingham should know better than to fall for media shenanigans. This is Tuchel’s interview the journalist referenced. Tuchel, just like Pep, and other top managers, they’re never satisfied and always demanding. That is why they’re up there.

@coopsie39 @dstaples I'm curious to see what happens with Jospeh, as I do think he'll be part of the kill.
If Dach and Jospeh take the winger spots on the 4th line, it could lead to Howard in Bakersfield, Freddy with Dickinson and one of Kapanen or RNH. With the other playing along Podz and Leon.

@Oil_Drop @dstaples I don't disagree: I think Dach is a lock on the roster, and has a LARGE inside track to start opening night in the lineup but I see 5 guys for 3 roster spots and 2 lineup spots behind him: Jones, Janmark, Joseph, Samanski, Howard - even if I think the latter two should be locks

Dach was on with Gregor yesterday and mentioned straight up he is working on face-offs this off-season. Said he is comfortable at center and did play a handful of games at center last season. With Stauff alluding to him at center, I think we likely see it tried early-poor Sammy

@moe99oilers I don't think either the player or coach have to shut anyone up. They've both done their jobs this World Cup. It's on the collective to take the next step

@coopsie39 @dstaples I think Dach will be fighting for a spot on the wing to start the season. I think they're going to bring in a vet at camp to battle Samanski for the 4C gig

@rangerbob94 The spot is there for Howard in a middle six role. It's just a matter of if this staff wants to give him that look for 25 to 30 games. They'll likely never have a better opportunity to do it with this group.

@Oil_Drop Could put RNH top 6 too and have a heavier more defensive bottom 6. Savoie should be safe but both Howard and Samanski have their work cut out for them as it should be but I hope they are actually given a chance if they earn it and they waive a veteran or two.

@Oil_Drop I would not get my hopes up on Dach being a longterm C option. He played little to no C in either of Rockford or Chicago
