@Ojgaze @AustinHockeyYT If I knew I was going to play next to McDavid or Draisaitl for 82 games, I wouldn’t sign anything right now.
If you want max term, you’re probably looking at 7 AAV.
English

To make this an almost A+ offseason I'd like to see Savoie's extension before the season begins. Lock the kid up early! #LetsGoOilers bet on the future, he's going to be worth it 🍻
English

@JasonGregor Taking them off the PK is the best and easiest solution. Those are tiring minutes compared to PP as well.
English

Should Mike Babcock give second unit more PP time?
A deep dive into the Oilers first unit PP and a breakdown of when they score goals.
Babcock wants to reduce TOI of McDavid and Draisaitl, and there is a clear path, but also one he must avoid.

@JasonGregor @PLotPodcast Pay for elite talent and grind down the depth/middle class. Carlsson at 18 doesn’t kill you. It’s the replacement level players at 3+ that do.
English

I’d rather have one Leo Carlson than four Jett Luchankos
Jason Gregor@JasonGregor
This isn't a smart offer sheet by the Flyers, unless you are confident ANA will match. If they don't you don't have a 1st for four years and too much AAV for one player. Offer sheets, like Hayton, Broberg, Holloway, are better when AAV and picks aren't too restrictive.
English

@JasonGregor The Holloway offer sheet wasn’t smart. Anyone with half a brain would have matched it.
English

@tyleryaremchuk @Kgill39 Lots of quantity but for this offseason to be a success, he needs to bring in a top-6 forward.
Claude Giroux would be a good fit as a UFA. Obvious trade targets too but Oilers don’t have many assets.
English

@Kgill39 @sportsjunkie007 “Doing nothing” is the best offseason this team has had in several years.
English

@sportsjunkie007 Keep defending this terrible organization. Keep it up lmao. Biggest offseason in history is to do nothing? I’m sure McDavid will stay now lmao
English

@Kgill39 @klimaslid Teams are going to rush to give these journeyman wingers 4x4 and live to regret it.
The smart teams will wait a week and get the same caliber players for league minimum. Shame Edmonton isn’t one of them.
English

If I had to pick one guy who I thought would most likely be an Oiler in the next 36 hours, my pick would be Mikheyev.

@JasonGregor I’m not a Nurse guy but may as well just keep him until next summer.
Guy is beyond delusional demanding a trade with a 3-team list given his boat anchor of a contract. Low IQ on and off the ice.
English

@BleedOilBlue @Kgill39 Then don’t trade him until next summer. If you have to retain or take back and anchor contract, hold. This isn’t difficult.
English

@DarrenDreger @TSNRyanRishaug Guy is delusional. One of the worst contracts in the NHL then demands a trade with a 3-team list.
His off-ice IQ matches his on-ice IQ.
English

@podgoalzin17 @Kgill39 Having a bottom-5 contract in the NHL then requesting a trade while giving a 3-team list is preposterous.
His off-ice IQ seems to match his on-ice IQ.
If he doesn’t expand the list and the Oilers have to retain or take a Graves back, I’d rather just keep him.
English

You have to trade nurse today or tomorrow , or this whole plan kinda falls apart and it’ll be a lot of nibbling on the scraps of free agency or smaller trades.
Being held hostage by a guy that scored more goals in his own net than he did on the oppositions net is certainly not the best thing I’ve ever seen.
English

@mathewjdp This is why you don’t trade 1st rounders for Jason Dickinson and Adam Henrique.
English

@NateInVegas Agree. I wouldn’t be eating money or taking back a Couturier/Graves type deal.
English

@PunjabiOil @TheCity0fChamps Most certainly is.
And if that’s the return, you’re better off keeping Nurse.
English

@SportsnetSpec I could care less about the human being. My concern is he hasn’t been a good coach in over a decade.
English

The Edmonton Oilers have only one thing in mind, and they couldn’t care less what you think about their latest hire.
Sportsnet@Sportsnet
Mike Babcock outlined his vision for the Oilers after being introduced as the next head coach on Tuesday. @sportsnetspec has more. sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/un…
English

@Bob_Stauffer @EdmontonOilers So almost 2 decades without success with the exception of a video game caliber national team.
Add in the baggage he comes with and it’s another in a long list of bizarre management decisions in Edmonton.
English

The @EdmontonOilers hire an experienced, veteran coach with gravitas...who can put in structure and process in a his team's game...
Mike Babcock is the only coach in hockey history to have guided teams to a Stanley Cup win (2008), an Olympic gold medal (2010, 2014), an IIHF World Championship (2004), and a World Cup of Hockey title (2016).
