“The defending is certainly a part of it in how you play in your defensive zone, but how we manage the puck in the offensive zone matters as well. It is a balance of creating offence, but giving up great chances. We want to find the balance of being an offensive team, because our best players are elite offensively, while being aware defensively. We didn’t have the right balance this year and we need to find it,” Bowman on team defending.

@nielsonTSN1260 Nurse takes Bouchard's man and then gives him up again. At no point does nurse have his own man, and the man he does take, he gives up after checking him, leaving bouchard stranded lmao. You can only blame Bouchard for not knowing whats going on inside that morons head.

Seeing a lot of #LetsGoOilers fans on twitter today thinking the team is doomed to miss the playoffs. I see the outlook for the next few weeks differently. Draisaitl gets to rest up and hopefully return 100% for round 1 of the playoffs, if not return the best that he can get, avoiding re- aggravating the injury in meaningless regular season games. I see the team going one of two ways here: 1. Either, the entire team steps up, most importantly the depth, as we saw at the end of last season, which we rode into the playoffs. The team plays low event, good playoff style hockey, and players step into their roles before we hit playoffs. Draisaitl being out takes those 20 minutes of even strength and powerplay toi and gives it to the depth. Let’s see if these guys can step up, and be the players we think or thought they could when we signed them - Frederic, Henrique, Dickinson, Samanski etc… 2. Or, the team flounders without their second best player and we miss the playoffs. The organization hits a major reset, players get to rest and we get back after it next season. Either outcome is a good one for the fans, either we see a team finally come into form and we ride this and hopefully, finally, win a cup. Or the team isn’t worthy of taking that final step, and we get a much needed rest and reset. Now that being said. I believe in this team through and through, they finally have something to play for, a reason to care about regular season games. And the coach is finally forced to spread the time on ice around to the depth. I truly believe the team will take a further step, a step beyond the one they took after the Olympic break. And if all goes well Drai returns round 1 and we show the league why we’ve been to back to back finals. Cheer for them oilers fans, no matter what. They need it more than ever.

Lmao. Team doesn’t show up for Skinner who was a great teammate through and through worked hard. Team doesn’t show up for Jarry who pushes his Defense to be better when they were clearly horrible. Seems the team might be the issue in this equation. Or you are just making stuff up.

@OilersThinkTank Team doesn’t show up for Jarry, it’s obvious. Some say he’s not a problem, he is: Exhibit A ) Calls out his teammates right after arriving Exhibit B ) Poor practice habits, confirmed a few teammates ripped into him during practice Exhibit C) Team doesn’t show up for him

I see a lot of #LetsGoOilers forming a narrative about Jarry being a cancer. Couldn’t be further from the truth. Elliotte used a quote from Bob Stauffer to suggest as much when Bob noted some tension in practice. Elliotte (being a reporter) pushed the narrative out there and fans ran with it. Bob denied that narrative, he simple said what happened on the ice was the end of it. Using warmup clips and false narratives to dump on a player that just got here isn’t what Jarry deserves. Jarry has shown he can be a good goalie behind a good defense, the oilers simply took his confidence away from him during that stretch before the Olympics. Goaltending is all mental. Give him a chance, we all remember that run our goaltending had in early January with two shutouts back to back when we played some good hockey. Let’s cool it on Jarry, the only guy who actually spends his off seasons in Edmonton, not even being from here. I bet he wants more than anything to play for this team and win a cup. Let’s rally behind the team, not push false narratives against them, oilers fans.

@Shashi20163108 Absolutely not the same defense. Team doesn’t play the same from game to game. Watch the games, oilers have gotten way better in their own zone over the past week. Team doesn’t play the same game every game, any fan could tell you they’ve shown up asleep more than a few times.

@OilersThinkTank Last night Ingram is in net, playing in front of the same defence, he makes the saves Jarry doesn’t. Jarry needs to be the 3rd string goalie, and next year he needs to be gone.
