I think soccer is more like basketball than football since you can’t pass the ball forward beyond where the play started and you can’t pass the ball backward without risking a turnover in a sport where possession control is more important

The infrequency of scoring is important as it allows for one large hit of endorphins, something you can’t achieve in high and many scoring sports where you get it in little hits here or there.

You don’t even have to be good at it but if there was more shots on goal the sport would be more interesting to watch. No way there should be 5 times as many shots on goal in a sport like hockey (known for lack of scoring)
