yeah, it really does feel like the end for Destiny even with all the fan petitions and the player rally on MoT launch day, i just don't see Sony pouring that many resources into Bungie anymore, especially after how Marathon performed maybe, *maybe* if Marathon somehow manages to get a steady stream of new players who stick around over the next year, things could change but I also don't see that happening, *not* because Marathon is a bad game. it's one of the best FPS games out right now imo with an amazing world/lore Bungie had around 1600 staff at its peak pre-first layoff in 2023. the last reported number was around 850 employees in 2024. and now, with another "significant" round of layoffs reportedly coming soonish (which sucks), and more Destiny staff moving over to Marathon, it's just hard to see Destiny getting the level of support it would need for a mainline sequel i truly hope I'm wrong and Sony does something with the Destiny IP in the near future bc it has so, so much potential and the demand is clearly there it's been an honor covering Destiny all these years 🫡
