BREAKING: Trump’s golden arch POWER GRAB looks to GUT the preservation law meant to protect historic sites. Donald Trump wants a 250-foot golden triumphal arch built in the heart of Washington DC — despite the fact that it violates height limits, hasn't received required congressional approval, and would block sacred sightlines between Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial. And now, according to a new Atlantic report, his administration is quietly rigging the rules to ram it through anyway. The scheme centers on Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, a law requiring federal agencies to consult with preservation experts and create binding plans to AVOID damaging historic sites before construction. Trump's handpicked vice chair on the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is now pushing to gut that requirement — allowing officials to simply "minimize" harm rather than avoid it, and to write the mitigation plan AFTER approval instead of before. In other words, build first, pretend to care later. Law professor Sara Bronin summed it up bluntly: "If adopted, these regulations will be challenged in court, and I doubt they will survive judicial scrutiny." And the legal gymnastics don't stop there. The arch would tower well beyond DC's federal 130-foot height limit, so the administration is simply claiming that century-old law doesn't apply to federal buildings — despite nothing in the statute saying so. For congressional approval, the Justice Department is citing a completely unrelated 1925 bridge design that included some columns, columns that were actually REMOVED from the final plan by President Hoover, as somehow constituting authorization for Trump's golden monstrosity a hundred years later. The National Park Service's own assessment found the arch would damage the historic character of the National Mall landscape. Public comments called it a "garish, tasteless eyesore" and a "McMonument." Veterans have sued to block it, arguing it would obliterate sacred sightlines between Arlington and the Memorial Bridge. Americans oppose it more than 2-to-1. None of that matters to Trump. He wants his golden arch, he wants it now, and he's willing to rewrite federal preservation law itself to get it — turning hallowed, solemn ground into a monument to his own ego. The big question is: When will Congress grow the cojones to stop this out-of-control narcissist? Please like and share if you think Trump’s desecration of our nation’s capital needs to stop now!

Government is supposed to be for the people. Not the President to live the high life, remodeling the White House, or modifying better planes or getting richer. 8647 we need to take our government back.
Senator Mark Kelly@SenMarkKelly

Every person should be able to go to the doctor when they’re sick, but not everyone has access to affordable care. We should be working to lower healthcare costs and expand coverage to improve access to care. Instead, Republicans are gutting healthcare programs to give handouts to billionaires.

How about the unqualified and incompetent leader of DOGE, Musk, just pay us back the billions he has taken in our tax payer money in subsidies. We can restart these programs.
D-LIB@whittler_e

The Trump DOGE cuts have screwed up the FDA. WE have less protection from being poisoned. Other important agencies like FEMA have been weakened from the stupid DOGE cuts. Trump put us at RISK and still increased the national debt. By the way, thanks for absolutely nothing.

Killing an innocent mother of three & an ICU nurse can’t be dismissed as “not a perfect operation.” It’s a deadly failure of leadership. Those responsible may evade accountability today, but they won’t forever. They’ll answer for it, whether in this Congress or the next.

REPORTER: You just said that in Minnesota what happened wasn't a mistake, with the shootings-- HOMAN: I said from day one it was not a perfect operation. I see a lot of people out there saying, 'We surrendered in Minnesota.' No we didn't.

Dear White House, I believe the words you're looking for are THE SAVE TRUMP'S ASS ACT as this cruel VOTER SUPPRESSION bill would make it way harder & time-consuming for struggling Americans to vote - exactly what Trump wants because he knows if ALL Americans vote, he loses. He wants to SAVE his job. And it's NOT a VOTER ID bill, MAGA, so pls STFU about that. Showing ID to vote has bi-partisan support. I have no problem with it. But your state ID, driver's license or enhanced ID will NOT suffice as this is a "proof of citizenship" bill aimed at rigging the upcoming November midterms. This means you must have your birth certificate and/or passport, so if you don't, you'd have to spend over $200 to expedite these documents. And for millions of women who took their husband's names, your passport MUST match your birth certificate -- so you will also have to show your marriage license. No, this is not like showing your ID to get all-you-can-eat breadsticks at fucking Olive Garden. Without cheating, Trump knows he'll lose the House AND likely the Senate, investigations into Epstein, emoluments clause, abuse of power, market manipulation, insider trading, corruption and war crimes will begin -- followed by impeachment, conviction, removal and God-willing prison. Debate me.
The White House@WhiteHouse

Defend the integrity of America’s elections and PASS THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.

BREAKING: Trump's former lawyer says his election speech was a pretext to claim emergency powers and steal the midterms! Donald Trump's former White House lawyer Ty Cobb is accusing the president of using last week's primetime election speech to lay the groundwork for an extraordinary and undemocratic maneuver to undermine the 2026 midterm elections and retain his majority. Speaking to PBS, Cobb said Trump's claims about election fraud and foreign interference were not really about relitigating 2020. Instead, he argued, they were intended to create a justification for actions that could reshape how the next election is conducted. "Tonight's speech is intended to add the predicate that he needs to declare an emergency at or about the time of the elections," Cobb said. Cobb claimed that Trump allies have already been signaling what could come next. "As you know, Steve Bannon and Todd Blanche have suggested that there will be ICE agents at the polls. I think that's a virtual certainty." The administration could also use election-security claims as a justification for seizing voting equipment or taking other extraordinary measures, Cobb said. "Anything that allows them to try to seize voting machines, as Trump wanted to do in 2020..." Cobb, who served as a White House attorney during Trump's first term, argued that the guardrails that restrained some of Trump's impulses in his first administration are largely gone. He pointed to the departures of senior officials who previously pushed back on proposals they viewed as reckless or improper. "I think you will see him doing everything he can to try to prevent the peaceful transfer of power, the election of Democrats, and do whatever he can to remain in power and keep his cronies in power,” he believes. The White House has tried to spin Trump's reheating of the long-debunked claims about election fraud and foreign interference as a major national security warning, but Ty Cobb’s not buying it and neither are we. The speech wasn’t about the last election at all. It was a pretext for what comes next.
