@makipilled "Hebrew" or "Israelite" for Jew doesn't quite kick.
What's the right term here?
English

@ChicagoPravda @1776Ks @coolbandit00 @CaudilloXIV That still makes him smarter than ~65.9M people in his country. Why are you so desperate to make that sound unimpressive?
English

@1776Ks @coolbandit00 @CaudilloXIV Ok since we both agree not to opportunistically round up, IQ 143 (99.8th percentile) on a population of 66mm is 132,000.

@Smeggman32 Does the mushroom kingdom have any black characters?
English

@OOCcommunism They teased Mussolini and FDR in the intro and didn't even rate them. Fuck this clickbait 🤬
English

@sstojsin08 @nonregemesse They are, but the Illyrians also lived further North than just Albania before the Slavic conquests. The map is just showing the part of Illyria that was ruled by the Eastern Goths.
English

This is fake history.
Italy was unified under the Romans first and then under Odoacer and Theoderic as an Italian kingdom.
Theoderic ruled Italy when the ancestors of Welsh people were calling themselves Roman.

Jac Gawr y Cymro 🏴@JacCymro1400
Wales was a unified entity under one Welsh ruler, Llywelyn ap Llywelyn, between 1057 - 1063. Meanwhile Italy didn't unify until the 19th century.
English

@goonaralo @Prototype27F Only in Africa. The rest of the map has HoI colours.
English

@JacCymro1400 If you want to pretend Italy was created in 1861, we'd also have to say Wales was created in 1997, which would be stupid.
Discounting Roman times (which would give 87BC and AD43 respectively), the 1st state known as Italy was founded in 476, 581 years before the 1st Welsh one.

@OwenofUpstate While Italy's a real country & Wales is a glorified subdivision of England
English

After WWI an Italian poet who had volunteered to fight at the age of 52 seized a disputed city on the Yugoslav border with an army of mutineers and ran it as a Nietzschean-hippie commune for 16 months and used cocaine-addicted pirates to seize money and supplies in the Adriatic.

What historical fact sounds fake but is true?
English

@WendsOf50800 @aee1090 @onlmaps If we were only counting modern forms of the countries, the entire map, barring Sweden, would be blank.
English

@Debanderyzator @onlmaps It was briefly a thing between 1917 and 1919. They betrayed us just before the Polish-Bolshevik War. Cossacks and wars with the Crimean Khanate may also count.
English

@onlmaps when did ukraine in it's 30 years of
history invaded Poland? 🤔
Are we talking about the cossack
rebellions led by disgrunted Polish
noblemen? 🙃

@wobbulus @GroovySciFi The strange part is how it's *only* spoken there. Why aren't there 100 places throughout the South speaking Catalan?
English

@GroovySciFi Not strange, sardinia as well as the rest of south Italy used to be part of aragon. Neapolitan language itself has influences from catalan
English

Alghero is strange. Random city in Sardinia where the main language is Catalan. And not in a "this is our heritage way", you actually hear it on the street.

@plainstriumph Weren't all foods declared spiritually clean, or something along those lines?

just found out aldi beef is all halal (which means it’s been sacrificed to allah) and i’m not sure how to feel about this
English

@QuetzalPhoenix @justalexoki But I did play along with the sinister hypothetical!!!!111!!!
English

@justalexoki Ok let me try:
"How would you feel if you did not want to play along with a hypothetical you consider silly at best and sinister at worst?"
English

@InvictvsXV I didn't know it was possible to express how much you hated someone in song form until I heard that one Salò march about Badoglio.
English

@GauchoRyder @DucDeVinny I suspect saying you're from Italian descent is supposed to make you seem more interesting just because it's not the default of Spanish.
English

@DucDeVinny Between argentinians, uruguayans, and southern brazilians. I wonder why everyone south of the tropic of capricorn is so obsessed with being italian?
English

More people speak Guaraní in latin America than italian, the italian influence is just that there's people with italian surnames who brag about being italian without being able to speak a single sentence in italian

@dan_de_cath Coincidentally, English is the stupidest language to write in. What does that tell you about its misuse of the Latin Alphabet.
