@RestoredTruth8 You suggested that pain resulting from human nature is not sufficient for a sacrifice. So what is the internal critique? Because I’m telling you that’s irrelevant and misunderstands how sacrifice works in traditional Christianity.

@OneMichaelTew There is no presupposition here bro lol. It’s an internal critique and not traditionally Christianity btw but the 3rd councils definition of God in regard to Jesus’s incarnation.

Question for the Creedalists…. In what way can a human create an infinite/eternal sacrifice… since the hypostatic union promotes that only the flesh of Christ was the thing that felt the pain and what died for our sins… where does it say in the bible the flesh is sufficient?

@SellersCounsel Number 3 is key imo. Understanding personalities and what is likely to blow up a deal, assessing what legal issues are non starters vs flexible. Being the partner in getting the deal done vs trying to win on every point. This is invaluable in good counsel.

Seller's Counsel
Seller's Counsel@SellersCounsel·
Look, my clients aren’t dumb. They’re really smart. Almost all are better businesspeople than me. Many have more deal experience than me. 1 or 2 have even been doing deals since before I was in high school. So why do they choose to hire me when they could just do it themselves with the help of AI? 1. Details. Most dealmakers are “big picture” type people. They don’t want to focus on the details. But the details can make or break the deal. The lawyer is the detail guy. I understand their vision perfectly and make sure every tiny detail matches that vision. 2. Reps. I do more deals in a year than even busy dealmakers may do in a lifetime. That gives me familiarity, comfort, and confidence in drafting, negotiations, and throughout the deal process. Even Scottie Scheffler would struggle if he only picked up a golf club for 4 weekends a year. I’m getting reps in every single day. 3. Relationships. More important than a perfect document or killer issue summary is managing the relationship from LOI to close. I can read a room, assess likely consequences of action (or inaction) and provide the best possible guidance to ensure we actually make it to the closing table. 4. Time. Time is arguably the most precious resource during M&A. The buyer is taking on the impossible task of diligencing a company in less time than a typical employee probationary period. The seller is trying to keep a business trending upward while knee deep in the sales process. Both sides should be offloading as much work as they can to qualified advisors. 5. Legal Protections. Like it or not, I provide my clients with a pseudo insurance policy. If I commit a gross error, they can sue me. A formal engagement also provides them with attorney client privilege and confidentiality protections that AI or diy representation does not. End of the day, even with tons of deal experience the latest AI model working perfectly, there is still real value in hiring a lawyer. And when you find a good lawyer that’s also leveraging AI tools? That’s the advisor you want in your corner.

@SellersCounsel @SBA_Matthias Some people like this just get offended by being asked to restrict their future actions. They take it as an insult to their character and get it once it’s explained. Definitely a red flag though.

@SBA_Matthias Just did a buy-side deal with a seller in his 70s who was retiring because he spent too much time in the hospital and couldn’t keep up with the work, but then pushed back on the noncompete. Was super weird

I know you are Mormon, but your question has presuppositions about the nature of Christ that aren’t in line with traditional Christianity so I was trying to clarify. I can say a few things though. Christ felt pain when he was crucified, and that pain came from His human nature. That pain came from being crucified, not from the pain of the sins of the world. The person of Christ died and rose again in His humanity.

@OneMichaelTew Bro. I’m not a Calvinist so you got me wrong here. The fact you can’t answer the question is weird to me… what part of Jesus felt the pain and sin of the world? Or was there any pain felt? What part died for my sins? What part rose?

Not only this, but the idea that everyone immediately got everything right is not what is in the Bible or the history of the Church. Look at the disagreements in Acts. The apostles disagreed among themselves, but the Holy Spirit guided them to the truth. The same Spirit continued to be with the Church throughout its history, and guided them in combatting numerous heresies.

Both. If you think either one of them is "the bad guy", you've failed to understand the Hellenic pagan mindset. They didn't share the Christianity-derived vision of every fight as a proxy war between ultimate good (God) and ultimate evil (Satan). They thought of war as a clash between tribes over a conflict of interest. Each of these men was an ideal of masculine virtue, fighting for the cause of his tribe. Which is what heroes did. Modern Christians think that wars shouldn't happen, because everyone should be on the side of God, which is one of the two sides. Hellenic pagans thought that war would happen, because tribes and nations inevitably have conflicting interests. So, in their worldview, it was entire possible for two righteous, virtuous, admirable heroes to make war against each other.

These businesses are extremely difficult to diligence in my experience. Typically big customer concentration, and a history of a very fast run-up that appears unsustainable. High margins usually driven by a surge in local demand and lack of competitors that lets them completely control pricing. These businesses print cash in the good times and I actually like them! Lol. Just need to be careful about price and structure. Could be totally wrong about this biz, just commenting on my experience when looking at a lot of these companies.

I didn’t suggest it was childhood indoctrination. But you did answer my question, which is that you prayed about the Book of Mormon to come to your belief that the LDS church is true. My question about drugs is to ask, why is praying while sober a valid way to determine truth, but we should distrust spiritual experiences that come from drug induced states?

@OneMichaelTew @jmbrim3 @MattTestifies You would be mistaken. I joined the church when I was 23 and just got out of the military wasn’t living a very Christ like life. Praying about the book of Mormon is what changed that not some childhood indoctrination.

@CTRyoda @jmbrim3 @MattTestifies Your belief in how the Holy Ghost acts and what He prefers is determined by your belief in what your teaches. But I’m asking how you came to believe in what your church teaches in the first place.

@OneMichaelTew @jmbrim3 @MattTestifies The Holy Ghost is not a drug and the Lord would prefer you to approach him with a clear mind with real intent. The Holy Ghost testifies the truth. But for the testify of the truth, you have to present the truth for it to testify of it. Read the book don’t do drugs.

There are lots of conceptions of Christ and the Godhead, and their proponents all say it is supported by scripture. These proponents are smarter than me and have studied the scriptures more than I have. And even when I study the scriptures, I’m unable to interpret it on my own, much like the Ethiopian in Acts. Proponents of all of these faiths have had visions of Jesus and angels confirming their beliefs. They also have texts they say were revealed to them by Jesus or angels. For example, I know several people who believe the book A Course in Miracles has dramatically changed their lives and brought them closer to Christ. How can we discern between these competing interpretations of scripture and claims of divine visions and revelation?

That's a great question. For one we believe our beliefs about the Godhead to be biblical (Matthew 3:16–17, Acts 7:55-56, John 17:11, John 14:16, John 10:30, 1 Cor 8:6) as well as supported by the Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants. (D&C 130:22, D&C 93:21–23, D&C 76:20–24) I also studied and prayed hard to know the truth of whether Joseph Smith was a prophet of God or not and I received a answer that he is. I have no doubt in my mind from years and years of personal confirmations from the Spirit and by studying his life. I believe that he saw both God and Jesus Christ standing next to each other when he experienced the "First Vision" when he was 14 years old. I believe if you put in an honest effort to find out the truth God will answer you if you ask 🤷‍♂️

Thank you! If I can come to know Christ in many ways, can I come to know Him outside of the Old and New Testaments and the Book or Mormon? Let’s say direct revelation, or maybe an LSD or ayahuasca trip? Are there any wrong ways to come to know Jesus? How do I know whether I am encountering Jesus as He truly is?

This is an excellent question. I believe you can come to know Christ in many ways. And that’s a wonderful thing. I know for me I want to learn about Him and emulate Him as much as I can. The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ more than any other book on earth. It’s helped me know Him better. So to me, yes it is essential in learning fully who Christ is. President Gordon B. Hinckley famously said, "You bring all the good that you have, and let us see if we may add to it"

@OneMichaelTew @jmbrim3 It does not replace the Old and New Testaments for me. It stands with them as another witness of Jesus Christ. What it adds is remarkable clarity about His gospel, His Atonement, and the covenant path back to Him, and every time I read it seriously, it pushes me closer to Him.
