I know I say this often, but I recommend the book, “Leadership and Self Deception”. It goes over a lot about how to communicate effectively and how to hear and be heard. I’m reading it again because it is easy to forget.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what to think. Everyone seems angry and I never want to side with angry people. With COVID-19, media often contradicts other media about the same data while somehow still being in line with their audience’s existing views. I just want information.

@itsscottwilder Are there numbers for total deaths last year at this time and how many more are dying from C19? I think that would help since I don’t know if 770 deaths is big or small, and was yesterday average, heavy, or light? Is there a CDC dataset for all this?

@OneSeventeen from cdc:16,000 cases reported yesterday in the US. 770 died yesterday from C19 related illness. Curve is flattening. Hospitals less stressed than at height in early April.People complaining about masks and shelter at home don't remember great depression or the 2 world wars.

I just read the CDC's latest best estimates, and I'm encouraged to see that they've again revised down the fatality rate associated with Covid-19 to around 0.3%. This is obviously a dangerous disease, but less-dangerous is great news. cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…

But really, there’s a difference between communicating to help or improve people’s decision making and to offend or virtue signal. There’s a way to communicate that invites listening and invites change. Being rude to people you disagree with invites them to get defensive.

Clapping 👏 between 👏 words 👏 is 👏 rude 👏 and 👏 makes 👏 people 👏 defensive 👏 rather 👏 than 👏 open 👏 to 👏 listening.
