Sometimes I think I'm a drone indistinguishable from any other member of my class and demographics But then I remember that I get rid of physical books after I read them. I am a radical free-thinker!

Libs are having a field day with this one, so I’ll just repost it for them because I have no problem standing by everything I wrote here. Redistricting wars are not fought in a matter of weeks or even months. They unfold over the course of years. >Florida has done nothing so far >S2 of the VRA has yet to be struck down >The 2030 census is poised to wipe out several congressional seats in states like California and New York In the long run, we are going to win, if for no other reason than the fact that there are more Dem-leaning targets than there are GOP-leaning targets. The Right’s biggest problem is the GOP’s addiction to losing on principle. But that’s something that can be solved internally. The Left’s biggest problem is a combination of geography and declining populations in blue states. That’s something that cannot be solved internally.

I'll take 4-6 GOP pickups in Texas, 1 GOP pickup in Missouri, and 2-3 GOP pickups in Ohio in exchange for losing 1 GOP seat in Maryland. The fact of the matter is we hold all the cards here. There is absolutely nothing Democrats can bring to bear that matches our ability to gerrymander Republican-controlled states next year. Why would we not do this?

@anonfuzz @ChristianHeiens This is what the GOP being "absolutely ruthless" looks like you moron Soaring gas prices, losing a war with Iran, bribes-for-pardons, and Democrats getting a clue.

@Doc_Pox But he seems to fail to realise that trust is a two way street, he thinks that he can do whatever he wants just because he “has” to do it but doesn’t seem to understand that most people don’t think that way and gets frustrated when people don’t just accept his cold logic.

@Doc_Pox @icebreaker90234 Invincible world just has Cecil, dealing with the fact that their Superman analogue - the only Superman analogue - killed the only other superheroes reasonably capable of handling Superman-level threats.

@Doc_Pox @icebreaker90234 No, he doesn't. Nick has never led an agency that is the sole line of defense against psycho aliens. Nick has always been a bit player, and there has always been real superheroes to take up the slack.

@JestersRaven @Bobbertfrasier @Doc_Pox Cecil isn't an idiot. It would destroy their relationship and also be an unnecessary weakness added to the second weakest Viltrumite (only one on their side), which would be exploitable by third parties

@Bobbertfrasier @Doc_Pox No it's not Cecil is likely to use it the moment he thinks Mark stepped out of line which would be anytime Mark did anything he didnt want It would basically enslave Mark to do whatever Cecil wanted

@the_transit_guy @ad_mitchell I live outside any of those 5 cities and don't own a car. But critically (1) I work from home, (2) I don't have kids, and (3) I do forgo a lot of things I'd otherwise enjoy, like trips to true wilderness or to Costco.

@ad_mitchell If you don't live outside of 5 cities in this country, you cannot live without a car due to how bad walkability and transit are, and therefore everyone owns a car. To think that's an endorsement vs. a need is so silly.

I’m a lot more sympathetic than I used to be to people uninterested in Rational Discussion of some policies if someone said I should be deported the only reason to respond Rationally would be tactical. often people paint friend-enemy lines and call it reason

while #MeToo was going on my circles were mostly focused on the false or unsubstantiated allegations that came with it, but I'm increasingly sympathetic to it as I see more and more examples of powerful men acting in scummy ways when it comes to women

@MikeDrewWhat They needed to figure out a reason that it was Not Okay that Harris didn't invite the VP elect This is best they could come up with. You're assuming there is an actual grievance and that is 100% incorrect.

Isn't it kind of ridiculous to suggest Canada would be added as a single state, if we're going to do this theoretical exercise? Canada has heavily devolved powers to the provinces to address the fact that different parts of Canada want very different things.
POLITICO@politico

Annexing Canada would change American politics. Trump keeps trolling Canada about becoming the 51st state, so we took him literally (not seriously) and this is how it could play out 👉 politi.co/4h8XT7R

@ModeledBehavior Interesting point. I've felt like some of Trump's leverage with allies should force the issue of creating real freedom of expression protections in the countries that are closest to us. It would be interesting to see how that's received.

@Aphasialista @JoePostingg The person who has lived in the same house for 75 years should move into assisted living instead of in a fire zone, that's the easiest policy question possible. are they going to even be alive by the time a house (not their house) is rebuilt.

@JoePostingg Asking a native Southern Californian who’s been living in the same house for 75 years is a big step and is not good public policy unless you’re a gentrifying, Millennial DINK who lacks perspective.
