@SaccharineDawn Not in defense of it: But I didn't like almost any of Side Order's music on the first go, nor as an individual track to listen to. By the time I played a lot of it, i found all the songs fitting and familiar, so it immersed me more. That may happen in Raiders for me!

So far, the Splatoon Raiders soundtrack is... awful? Like, atonal, eerie, and utterly unpleasant to listen to. For the first 3 levels, it's just been... This, on repeat. Idk anything about the other Splatoon soundtracks, but lord, this is abhorrent to hear on repeat.

@RicardoA0PE If difficulty didn't affect enemy health I'd have started with Survivalist, but it sounds like one of those situations where I'll want to gear up first before starting harder stuff. Besides, rewards don't change with difficulty anyway, so standard works for me.

@liemkyuza @CapsirusYT Literally the only similarity this has to salmon run is that the enemies are salmonids and you get power eggs but that's it. It's a novel shooter experience--closer to Side Order but not rogue-lite (at least in its main gameplay loop).

@Lemswa @AnAverageGamerX The basis of the review (which I read) is in poor faith because they just don't care for 'cooperative action games', while a LOT of people are approaching this game after avoiding/dropping off of Splatoon 3 because they want to experience a smoother PvE/Co-op experience.

@anongoat360 @SmolAltNoko The uniqueness of Splatoon is in its functionality, traversal, world building, etc. If I didn't like PvP games, should I rate Splatoon 3 low based on the fact that I don't like PvP games? Or would you rather read someone's opinion who likes competitive gaming? Same thing here.

Splatoon Raiders is at 80 on Metacritic as of time of writing (˵◝ ⩊ ◜˵マ It was at 82 until an absolute fake gamer from Guardian giving a high quality Nintendo title a 4/10. They only gave that score in atempt to be controversial for clicks & views. It's just disingenuous.

@himstdvent @graceee_71 Plus, hearing 'generic shooter' from someone who doesn't like the genre doesn't inform me of the game, it only informs me that the reviewer doesn't like the subject matter--as opposed to the details we get from someone willing to give a review with foundation.

But no other looter shooter works the way Splatoon does, and Splatoon itself has never given the opportunity. Even if you don't like the genre: Raiders is objectively unique.

@himstdvent @graceee_71 It's fine to have a personal opinion about genres but engaging in something that you know is marketed to be something you don't like, and then you rate it poorly, that has nothing to do with the game's merits. Your review doesn't help anyone who wants to know about the game.

@graceee_71 I see your point and kinda agree like its the point of the game but also think it is fair to note that you dont really want this direction for splatoon. Im likely going to enjoy Raiders but I do feel kinda similarly that I really like splatoon for turf wars & various multi modes

@_CSenpai_ The interview was nice, but I'm unsure if it answered my question if Splatoon Raiders did start out as DLC for Splatoon 3 or not. The reason I thought was because the turquoise and orange splats in the expansion pass logo were the same colours as the mechanic's hair and pants.

@SplatoonGOP @Stealth40k The guy at the Guardian said that Splatoon Raiders was 'too normal' of an offshoot because 'if you've played one co-op action shooter, you've played this game'. I wish he gave expectations of what he would've wanted, other than dissing the genre.
