@OperatorDrewski @GnySgtKabar Cute. But yeah CE-3 weren't gritty. Bungie just followed what gaming was at the time. Just muted colors, ugly browns. Just very dull looking. But it does have good cinematic though I can't lie.

If Halo Studios utilized the gritty Y2K military sci-fi themes seen in CE to Reach into an actual new campaign again, Halo would immediately be back, but they won’t because that’d be too cool and would make too much sense.
Fanbase is sick tho. LOOK AT THIS!

Flying F22's in VR is insane.
You have no idea how agile thrust vectoring makes you until you're circling in a fight at double the rate the bandit is.

@OperatorDrewski I still wouldn’t describe it as gritty, it’s more colourful and adventurous. Reach is really the only one I’d describe as gritty.

@GnySgtKabar Yes Halo 1-3 was a lighthearted campy story about an alien race glassing half of africa, enslaved mutated child soldiers and weapons that could wipe the entire universe.

@OperatorDrewski Halo was at its cultural peak when it was a campy lighthearted action movie esque game. Reach was the only time they made things "gritty." You're rotted by years of modern military tactislop that was made up by reach fanboys.

@DangervilleTeam CE has major ALIEN inspiration. Chief is stuck at the time in a losing war that turns into a desperate attempt at survival against the flood. Tension, brutal weapons, alien blood, ancient forerunner architecture, I may be wrong, but I'd consider that gritty for 2001.

I likely sound extremely weird for preferring how 7th gen games look rendering-wise compared to newer games with their full physical-based rendering and advanced lighting
I think porting models from 7th gen games to Blender a lot has made me appreciate them more, especially Halo

@TauCetiGG My buddies still have friction with it. I dove in with tester veterans and played 50hrs now and really like the experience. Low end gear and high gear fights are super fun.
HEAVY friction around looting UI / item count memorization and readability.

The new Marathon map Outpost is genuinely one of the best video game maps I've ever played - in an extraction shooter and any other genre The level design is so intricate and deep, it feels like a real location functioning as you'd expect in-universe, not just as a "game map"
