@HousebotGuy Not crows—storks. Israel sits on one of the world’s major migration corridors, and right now (spring) tens of thousands of white storks pass through. Crucially, it’s also one of the safest stretches of that route—unlike parts of the region (e.g. Lebanon) where they’re still shot.

Footage showing thousands of crows flying across the Tel Aviv skyline is going viral! This is considered by many to be a "harbinger of doom” as it is often followed by total catastrophe. An extremely rare sight that no country ever wants to see.

Elon Musk just dated the death of human language and explained exactly why it has to die. Musk: “Our brain spends a lot of effort compressing a complex concept into words.” Language isn’t communication. It’s failed compression. You have a complete thought. You crush it into words. The listener gets fragments and attempts reconstruction. Everything important dies in translation. We don’t communicate. We approximate and hope it’s close enough. Musk: “You would be able to communicate very quickly and with far more precision.” Neuralink doesn’t improve communication. It replaces it. No compression. No loss. Direct cognitive transfer at the speed thoughts occur. Not describing the painting. Transmitting the experience itself. Musk: “You wouldn’t need to talk.” Five to ten years until brain interfaces make speech optional. Talking persists for sentiment. For information? Speech becomes primitive compared to direct neural transmission. Lifetime of memory in one second. Complete schematics transferred instantly. Not summaries. The entire thought structure whole and uncompressed. Not better communication. Actual telepathy at physical information limits. Musk: “Ideally, we are a symbiosis with artificial intelligence.” Humans who don’t merge with AI at high bandwidth don’t just fall behind. They become incomprehensible to the intelligence that matters. We’re already cyborgs with pathetic interfaces. Phones extend cognition through typing at words per minute when bandwidth should be terabytes per second. Neuralink doesn’t optimize that. It detonates the constraint. Five to ten years. Not fiction. Deployment window. From language as default to neural link as standard. From compressing thoughts into inadequate words to transmitting uncompressed cognition. From humans using AI to humans indistinguishable from AI at communication speeds. The species that survived by evolving language is making it extinct with technology matching how fast we actually think. The ones who don’t transition won’t just be slow. They’ll operate at such reduced bandwidth they become effectively deaf to everything happening at neural speed around them. Language served 50,000 years. It has less than a decade before it becomes smoke signals. Functional but hopelessly inadequate for anything that matters.

@A_M_R_M1 How convenient the pictures capture signs with the city and street names! 😀The problem is that the sign Hebrew writings are nonsensical and don't match the English names. It's fake.

80 years ago today, April 15th 1945, my grandmother Masha Greenbaum was liberated from the Nazi concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen by the British Army. She never got over the sight of the first British soldier whose tank rolled into the camp. He got out, stared at the pile of dead and dying bodies, and began to weep. "He came from the fight, he came from the struggle, but he had never seen anything like Bergen Belsen." The footage and reports from Belsen shocked the world and revealed the full extent of Nazi brutality. Masha died earlier this year - its the first April 15th i'm commemorating without her. It's also the first Passover I had since her death. Our seders were always led by the men of the family - first my grandfather, then my dad. But when we got to the section "Avadim Hayinu" - we were slaves in Egypt, my grandmother would take over. She would tell us how 2 weeks before liberation, she and her mother, and her sister, sat in the filth of Belsen, no books, no wine, no matzah, but they would sing whatever they remembered from memory. And when they got to "we were slaves" they kept singing, even though they were slaves, and God had not yet freed them. Many survivors were quiet from the time of liberation until the Eichmann trial, which in many ways was the dam breaking - it normalized survivor testimony and thousands who had been silent began speaking. But Masha began documenting her story and educating people about the Shoah right away. Her earliest writings appeared in the Yiddish journal "Unzer Shteime" - which was put together by the survivors of Belsen in the British-run DP camp. Masha went on to get a masters degree in Jewish history-- a subject she knew and lived. She authored three books- "A Window into Hell," "Hope at the Edge of the Abyss," and "The Jews of Lithuania." Approximately 90–95% of Lithuanian Jewry was killed during the Holocaust. Before World War II, there were around 220,000 to 250,000 Jews living in Lithuania. By the end of the Holocaust, only about 10,000–15,000 remained. This makes Lithuania one of the countries with the highest percentage loss of its Jewish population during the Holocaust. Three of those survivors were my grandmother Masha, her sister Shoshana, and her mother Judith. One of the Lithuanian Jews killed during the holocaust was my great-grandfather, Masha's father, Sholem Ralsky. He was in his forties. Passover is the holiday of liberation. Fitting that this year, the first Passover without her, the anniversary of her freedom comes during the holiday.

I’m not Jewish, but there’s a reason that I’ve risked everything to speak up for the Jewish community. And when I say everything, I mean everything. I mean being blocked by friends that I grew up with, unfollowed by most friends and associates, accused of being a spy for the Mossad, IRGC, CIA etc, having my family accused of the same and having their lives put at risk to the extent of having to contact the FBI, being subjected to unthinkable smears, conspiracies, and rumors that are intended to blacklist me from everywhere and by everyone, but I still speak up despite it all, you know why? Because the same time that Jews had to watch their children being shot and kidnapped on October 7 Is the same time they had to watch half the world protest against the existence of their tiny Jewish state that is their only refuge from global genocide Is the same time they had to watch their friends, associates, celebrities, and the world’s body politic post paragliders in celebration of their massacre Is the same time they had to watch their synagogues go up in flames amid renewed pogroms in Europe Is the same time they had to be banned and blacklisted as persona non gratas of the world by trading the word “Jews” for “Zionists” Is the same time they had to be pushed back by human chains on college campuses and beaten unconscious for defying chants for their death Is the same time they had to watch a mentally ill rapper tell millions of his followers that he loves Hitler and supports the Holocaust Is the same time they had to watch the likes of Dan Bilzerian, Candace Owens, Jake Shields, and the rest of the “woke right” claim “Jewish supremacy” is the world’s biggest problem by citing obscure texts of the Talmud & claiming to “seek truth” while regurgitating antisemitic Soviet disinformation to justify their persecution Is the same time they had to watch the woke left claim that the victims of Islamist extremism deserved the October 7 horrors because their grandparents who fled Nazi Germany back to Palestine in refugee boats were actually “white colonizers” All while the world looks on and glibly asks, “what antisemitism?” That’s why I speak up. The most important thing I’ve realized is that nobody can take from you what doesn’t belong to them. They can silence, intimidate, threaten, and accuse you, but they can never take away the power of your voice when it bellows into the scorched earth the last hopeful, fragmented glimmers of truth. That belongs to you and nobody else, and in our lifetime, it may never be more important than now.

@nicksortor Pathetic fear mongering. Crime rate in Colorado is much lower than in Alabama or other Republican-governed states. Total crime index, CO 110, AL 135. Violent crime index: CO 118, AL 136, etc.

"I’m sorry to inform you that unfortunately we will have to cancel the event on Friday...Many of the members in the committee did not feel comfortable giving Dr. Coyne and Dr. Boudry a platform given their stances on the Palestine/Israel conflict. Another fear is how it would reflect on us as a committee and that we might be blackballed at UvA/AUC. We understand the irony of this considering this is the very issue that Dr. Coyne wrote his article about, however the group decided we can’t host this event given the current political climate."
