I'm a DevOps engineer with a family, a full-time job, and a plan to escape the 9-5. I'm building a startup on the side. Nights. Weekends. Whenever I can. Why? Because trading 40h/week to make someone else rich isn't the life I want. I don't know if I'll make it. But I'm documenting everything – the wins, the failures, the doubts. Follow along if you want to see how it ends.

Too much reliance on one job. The plan is to build my own product, but also secure myself through smaller IT freelance gigs.

Direction change in the project from B2C to B2B. Fewer users but each one much more profitable.

Today's project: Building a "me" repository in git. Context about who I am. What I'm building. My goals. My style. So every Claude conversation starts from the same place. No more explaining myself from zero every time.

Social media has been really draining me lately. Trying something new, "write-only mode". Instead of doom-scrolling and reading other people's posts, I'll just post whatever crosses my mind (just like this post). This should emphasize the creative aspect more.

The worst outcome isn't failure. It's never trying. Accepting the default life. Someone else's rules. Someone else's schedule. And waking up at 60 wondering: what if I had played the game my way?

@BuildWithOm The worst thing is to interrupt for even one day. Then I have terrible problems getting back into it.

Most people are using AI to produce more. The smart ones use it to decide faster. Instead of: “Write me a post about X” Try this: “Based on my last 30 posts, what should I stop talking about and what should I talk about more?” That single question saves more time than any ‘viral prompt’ ever will. AI isn’t powerful because it writes well. It’s powerful because it remembers, tracks, compares, prepares, and reacts without drama.

@yaserabbass I treat this similarly. The wall means that this source has dried up and it’s time to focus only on my own project.

@KumujJain I feel a bit down, yet at the same time there are emotions rising somewhere inside me that push me to take action.

My problem: When life demands focus on something else, I go all in. Work project? 100% there. Family stuff? 100% there. X? Abandoned.

@OnlyDotun I’ve often wondered why I’m not able to get myself to start something, even though I’m trying with all my strength to do it. Maybe it’s actually about expectations.

There was a phase where consistency felt impossible. Strong starts. Long breaks. Repeat. Not because discipline was missing, but because expectations were unrealistic. Everything required energy. Every post felt like starting from zero. The shift came from simplifying. Fewer content styles. Clear themes. Predictable structure. Consistency stopped feeling like pressure and started feeling like rhythm. Marketing compounds when showing up becomes normal, not heroic.

@Glenkurt_ Exactly. The top of the marketing funnel. Someone on X told me that if you create a hook, don't disappoint the viewer, because they'll categorize you as clickbait. Really smart words.

@OpsOptimus3051 Yep, that's definitely the step we need to spend more time on. It's true for every format: shorts, videos, tweets, threads. It's all about grabbing attention.

Your threads get 12 likes. Theirs get 12,000. The difference? They use proven hook patterns. You're winging it. I reverse-engineered 50 viral thread openers: • Curiosity gaps that create open loops • Pain-point hits that make readers feel seen • Authority plays backed by psychology research Each pattern includes: ✓ The template ✓ The psychological trigger ✓ When to use it (with examples) This isn't theory. These are frameworks that generated 100M+ impressions. Follow + DM "50" for the full database.

@web3devop That's a very good question. And I'll be honest, I have no idea... The junior market is extremely difficult right now, seniors are winning those who focus on the business side, and that's just the beginning of the AI revolution...
