BREAKING: Just hours after Trump told Oil Tankers to enter the Strait of Hormuz, regardless of Iran's threats, an oil tanker is reportedly targeted and decimated by Iran in the Persian Gulf, just past the Strait of Hormuz. Trump's horrific advice may have just gotten people killed.

@AdamMGrant this usually happens because men negotiate more aggressively during the hiring process. its wild how much that gap adds up over a career.

Women are offered lower pay than men for the same job. Across >700k jobs, women were offered 5.5% less money than men, even after controlling for education, experience, employer, occupation, industry, and location. The value of work shouldn’t depend on the gender of the worker.

@MattWalshBlog people act like kids are a total financial trap but it is mostly about lifestyle choices. lowkey just requires better planning.

Two things here: 1) This is a false choice. You can have plenty of disposable income while also having kids. You can even have “lazy weekends.” Maybe not quite as lazy but still pretty lazy. The idea that you have to give up one to have the other is a reflection of your own lack of imagination and ambition. It’s not some kind of law inscribed into the cosmos. 2) There is only one thing that will make you chronically miserable as a parent and that thing is selfishness. Immense joys are available to parents — a unique kind of happiness that non-parents cannot experience — but those joys do require you to pull your head out of your own ass for long enough to experience them. If you can’t, or refuse to, then yeah you’ll be miserable all the time. But the good news (if you want to call it that) is that selfish people are miserable no matter what they do, whether they have kids or not, so there’s still no need to feel regret.
New York Magazine@NYMag

Sooner or later, everyone has to decide whether to give up lazy weekends, disposable income, and overall peace of mind to have a baby instead. For many of those on the fence, one anxiety looms large: What if I make the wrong choice? Parent regret is more common than you might think — the r/regretfulparents sub-Reddit alone gets around 70,000 weekly visitors who anonymously commiserate — though stigma makes it hard to admit in real life. Writer Bindu Bansinath speaks with three moms of young children about why they wish they could go back to their old lives: nymag.visitlink.me/Sv0c_9

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has issued a warning to civilians across Iran, urging them to shelter-in-place as they state they Iranian Regime is utilizing heavily populated civilian areas to conduct military operations, including launching one-way attack drones and ballistic missiles from civilian areas in the cities of Dezful, Esfahan and Shiraz.

I am glad everyone is 100% sure that the war in Iran is the end of the world/a genius move/the end of the American Empire/the begining of a new age of American greatness/insert other opinion here. But could you just acknowledge for a moment that you don't actually know how this is going to go because no one does? It's a gamble which could go either way. And all I see is people doing the usual "Here is my baseless opinion expressed with 100% metaphysical certitude followed by the typical "I hope I'm wrong" disclaimer which allows them to simultaneously harvest the clicks of people who wanted to have their retarded opinion reflected back at them while having plausible deniability for when that retarded opinion turns out to have been completely wrong. The coin is in the air and we don't know how it's going to land, but the internet is full of people screaming "IT'S GOING TO BE HEADS" arguing with people screaming "IT'S GOING TO BE TAILS". Stfu.

Went through the Warner deal umbers with @sharonwaxman - cutting $6 bil from this dog on top of declining cash flows is trouble (is it possible?). Borrowing $80 bil at this time will be more expensive than modeled. They should stop the deal as Ellison will destroy these three companies over the next 3 years from overpaying 2x for warners, cutting jobs and ending with nothing but catalogues. $NFLX $WBD $PSKY

A game-plan that works in supply constrained markets: Identify older buildings with apartments that are too large relative to the number of beds and baths they have (for example a 1,000 sq ft one bed). During renovation, using permits, reconfigure the units to add bedrooms and baths, so that more people can live comfortably in the same sq footage. This generates higher per sq ft rent, without much incremental operating expense, driving up operating margin and (if you've done it right) yield.

The team of uniformed services members won. It was not even close. We held a customer hackathon at @PalantirTech DevCon5 last week. The vast majority of the competitors represented the best of the US private sector. Highly capable developers. And one all-military team of coders. The most contrarian thing I can tell you right now: the best AI talent in America is wearing the cloth of the nation. 🇺🇸🫡

This is the definition of Gaslighting by Fox News and Karoline Leavitt. Listen to Karoline Leavitt try and defend the price of gas jumping, by changing the subject to Joe Biden and claiming that we’ve only seen a slight increase in gas prices. Gas was $3.13 when Joe Biden left office. Today it’s $3.45. “The impact of this war is affecting Americans through the increase in the price of oil. What is the President expecting to do to reign in those prices right now where we are watching and waiting for those midterm elections in November.” Karoline Leavitt: “The President inherited the worst affordability crisis in our History from Joe Biden… This is a slight disruption.”

Microplastics have now been found in human blood, lungs, and even placental tissue. Most of them enter the body through food packaging, plastic containers, and synthetic fabrics. One simple change: stop heating food in plastic. Heat dramatically increases chemical leaching.

Mark Cuban just explained AI better than ANYONE in silicon valley has all year… a tool. a way to learn. the biggest democratization of knowledge we've ever seen. but he's also splitting people into two camps. >ones who use AI so they don't have to learn anything. >ones who use it so they have the opportunity to learn everything. this split is going to define the next decade of careers. which side are you on?

"These cursors seem like a small touch, but it's the first time I've seen AI feel human." Here's my new episode with @tomkrcha (CEO of Pencil) where we covered the most mind blowing AI design tool I've ever seen. Tom showed me: ✅ Swarm mode with 6 AI agents designing an app at the same time ✅ How to load a full design canvas inside Cursor and Claude Code ✅ From design to working website in one prompt Some quotes from Tom: "We launched 2 weeks ago and now have 100,000+ users. Craft and care still matter." "Most vibe coding platforms are too linear. You should be able to explore 20 variations with agents." "All this magic on screen...behind the scenes, the agents are just writing JSON." 📌 Watch now: youtu.be/w4RY7PnfRU8 Thanks to our sponsors: @linear: The AI agent platform for modern teams linear.app/behind-the-cra… @Replit: From 0 to full stack app in 2 min. replit.com/?utm_source=cr…
