Generic semaglutide from India, incoming! This is great news for the 4 out of 5 people living with T2D who live in low and middle income countries. Many of whom haven’t had access to any GLP-1 (And also good for our struggling NHS) Remember it’s a highly effective type 2 diabetes medication not just a weight loss drug!
Avi Roy@agingroy

Ozempic costs $936/month in the US. As of tomorrow in India, it'll cost $40. The Ozempic patent expired this week in India. 50+ Indian generic makers are launching copies. India already supplies 20% of the world's generic drugs and just did the same thing to weight-loss medication that it did to HIV drugs two decades ago: made them affordable for billions. Patents also fell in China (17+ generics in Phase 3), Brazil, and Canada. Combined, that's 40% of the world's population. Meanwhile, @EliLillyandCo just dropped results for what comes next. Retatrutide hits three gut hormones instead of one. In Phase 3, patients lost 28.7% of body weight (71 lbs average), the biggest weight loss ever recorded in a late-stage trial. A1C dropped 2% in a diabetes cohort. The old guard goes cheap. The next generation goes bigger. 890 million adults with obesity are watching.

Hi @wesstreeting Can you explain to my why a hospital trust not far from me is taking 6 months to even look at (triage) it's *urgent* vascular referrals. (Not see, triage). (10months for routine). Whilst General Practice has to triage everything same day?

"There are no Amish with autism" There are "Vaccines aren't tested against placebo" They are "MMR has never been studied as a possible cause of autism" It has. It's not the cause. I apparently need to say this stuff over and over and over and over again. And again.

Just finished watching #JuditPolgar s docu. Absolutely brilliant. What a legendary and iconic force she is, redefining chess forever. Loved the depth and archival moments, though honestly felt a bit too much footage went to kasparov. Still judits legacy shines loud and clear. 🎉

Yesterday I posted about earwax as a cancer biomarker, but this might be more grim.

Witnessed the most amazing thing on the train to Edinburgh yesterday. A guy boarded in Wigan & sat opposite me. He went to sleep for an hour. When he woke up he bought a sandwich, ate it & went back to sleep. (This isn’t a maths test, you don’t need to know the distance/speed).

Thank you to Brenna Perez for giving the single clearest, smartest breakdown of the murder of Renee Nicole Good. This is clearly murder. Period. But as we’ve said for a generation, in America an officer just has to say “I feared for my life” to get away with murder.

In the 1970s-80s measles was the single leading killer of children, 2-3 million died annually. Through EPI @WHO we brought it down to 450,000 kids who died annually by 2000. Through @gavi it came down to <100,000. Now the ignorant careless chuckleheads want to erase all our gains
Joe Rogan Podcast News@joeroganhq

Joe Rogan: "Measles was what everyone got when I was a kid, and what happened was you'd get sick for a few days, and then you'd be immune for life. They're making it look like everyone's dying from measles."

Thank you to the lovely audience member at @hayfestival who shared that her daughter had once corrected her pronunciation of ‘epiphany’ and told her it should of course be ‘epi-fanny’. Which word have you royally mispronounced because you’d only ever seen it written down?
