This afternoon at the State House in Gaborone, President Kagame and President @duma_boko held a tête-à-tête meeting followed by bilateral talks with their respective delegations. The two Heads of State then witnessed the signing of bilateral agreements and Memorandums of Understanding between Rwanda and Botswana on avoidance of double taxation, visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official, and national passports, air services, health, economic, trade and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration between the Rwanda Development Board and the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre.

Today in Gaborone, Minister @onduhungirehe and his counterpart, Hon. Phenyo Butale, Botswana’s Minister of International Relations, co-chaired the 2nd Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) between Rwanda and Botswana. In his remarks, Minister @onduhungirehe highlighted the strong ties between the two countries and underscored the need to deepen bilateral economic cooperation. Both Ministers welcomed the finalisation of six key instruments, to be signed during the State Visit of H.E. President Paul Kagame to Botswana on 6 May 2026.

Yesterday, Minister @onduhungirehe held a telephone call with Amb. Emmanuel Cohet (@EmmanuelCohet), French Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region. They discussed bilateral relations between Rwanda and France and exchanged views on the situation in the Great Lakes region.
