@DougLain 17 intelligence agencies did not say your lord Trump colluded with Russia, rather they said Russia interfered with the 2016 election, and they did.

@DougLain The US depends on global fertilizer supplies, and this stupid war your Orange Savior engaged in will undoubtedly raise costs for the already beleaguered US farmer and threatens US agriculture and beyond.

US can withstand oil shortages, Europe less so. Economic contractions will hit the rest of the world first. Closing the Strait may have been part of the plan from the start. I wonder why Pape ignores the advantages the US gets from the Strait being closed.
Robert A. Pape@ProfessorPape

Wall Street Journal reports, Trump preparing for a long blockade. This means: —Hormuz shut down for weeks — oil shortages rise — economic contraction starts And worse: Iran won’t buckle US pushing world economy over a cliff for no strategic gain

@mtracey @wesyang You are an enormous target. Like several issues previously (Collusion, Trans, White Supremacy, etc) great efforts have been put forth to astroturf "The Epstein Files" into a mass formation issue and they've been fairly successful. You are the enemy for telling the truth.

OK, I know I should quit milking this story, but seriously: look how the whole thing got instantly inverted! For the millionth time, Acosta was the one who challenged ME to fight! He admits that! But look at every dumb headline, and I'm the one who tried to fight HIM! Amazing

@DougLain @Wehtammzo What kind of state department induced horse pucky are you talking about? Iran is a "regional threat" in that it won't do Amerikkkas bidding and allow the genocidal ethno state that is Israel do what it wants. Its so transparent that you're a cheerleader for US imperialism.

@Wehtammzo Uae, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, India, as well as Israel. Plus, the Palestinians would benefit if Iran's ability to exert regional influence was diminished. Also, Yemen.

@DougLain What Doug is saying is that the war is unpopular, and the Dems like it's unpopularity, and want the unpopularity to continue and maybe get even less popularity. And the far left want US defeat more then peace based on Iranian defeat. This is all true.

You’re such a fantasist. His explicit aims were quick regime change à la Venezuela, then "unconditional surrender" and control of Hormuz. As well destruction of nuke capability. All failed. I’m not even sure what game you’re running here. All of your commentary and predictions on Iran have been wrong.

Whenever Democratic Party "critics of the war" return to touting the JCPOA and claiming Trump hasn't surpassed it, I know that they believe the war is likely going to wind up soon. Obviously, Trump is only attempting to do what Obama wanted to do: Contain Iran and limit its ability to be a regional pest/problem The only difference is a matter of tactics. Trump's aims here were modest all along.
Alice@AliceFromQueens

Nothing says "winning" like spending $100 billion on a military intervention while costing US consumers countless billions more in elevated prices just to ~restore Obama's Iran deal.

@DougLain Both you and your fellow right winger clearly don't understand the difference between a strategic win vs a tactical win. For instance, during the Vietnam war, America achieved tactical victory but suffered a strategic defeat. Get a job.

Some of the tankers weren't coming from Iran, half weren't if I am remembering correctly. Also, the aim probably isn't 100% compliance but just to apply pressure. It's pretty early to tell if it's working. And it could easily end if negotiations produce the results the US wants.
Bill Madden@maddenifico

As confirmed by ABC News, Trump's naval blockade is proving to be a COMPLETE FAILURE. Multiple tankers have made it through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has spent billions of taxpayer dollars for what has amounted to be a anouther failing strategy. Pete Hegseth should be fired. 😂

I am Japanese. I believe that left-wing media outlets are deliberately trying to lower approval ratings by selectively reporting only the parts that suit their narrative — a tactic often called "cherry-picking" or "out-of-context reporting." Thanks to Mario Nawfal and Elon Musk, many Japanese people have begun to wake up and regain the ability to see the truth for themselves. I truly cannot thank you both enough. I look forward to your continued efforts. Please keep up the great work.

First full day of the U.S. naval blockade on Iran: - Zero vessels left Iranian ports - Six merchant ships turned back after American warnings - No shots fired, no enforcement needed Meanwhile, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continued normally with over 20 vessels passing through. The blockade is off to a quiet but effective start. Iran blinked first, ships are turning around without a fight. The real test will come in the next few days when Tehran decides whether to push back or keep playing it safe. Source: WSJ

@OrphaoThe You're right, but I don't feel it's my responsibility to immediately bring bourgeois rights to Iran. All I'm trying to do is to get leftists who happen to listen to me to stop actively opposing socialism.

Caitlin is a true-blue "leftist." I understand her perfectly well. But here's what she isn't facing, what nobody will face, by pushing the responsibility to change society onto the Islamic Republic of Iran, she is abdicating her responsibility to organize for socialism, and in this way kicking the can down the road so that more wars, more chaos, more barbarism, more stupidity can continue unabated. It's obvious to everyone that life in Iran is not a life of freedom or proletarian self-direction. But, it'll do if it means the bad US is brought to its knees. Of course, it won't be. All that could possibly be accomplished is that the Republicans will do badly at the midterms and in 2028.

@DougLain @DohnJee88 "21 ships passed through the straight of Hormuz" Who told you that, Chris the pederast Cutrone who then got it from FOX News? The only ships that have been allowed passage are Chinese, Russian and "friendly" ships. All had permission.

@DohnJee88 Because there is a Naval blockade. Two destroyers made it through the Strait. And apparently, 21 ships passed through the Strait yesterday without Iranian permission.

Trump says Iran called him and are begging for a deal. Again. I figure this will drag on for awhile longer. If the US (and others?) start escorting tankers through Strait markets will rebound and the deal will become background noise. If not then possible stagflation.

@DougLain That’s the big insight, unmentionable in polite company. The War is for Israel, at the cost of America’s citizens. Unless Trump changes course, the Republican Party might suffer a historic defeat in November. Also, support for Israel is collapsing: pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

I think Donald Trump is funny. I think Donald Trump is more honest than you are. But I also think he's a mafia boss and a representative of global capital and the bonapartist state. So, nah. YOu're confusing my disdain for democrats for an alliance with Trump. Wrong answer. Sad!
