Is another option to fill our priest shortage to evangelize traditional Spanish speaker Roman Catholics and having a standard easier bar for them to convert and serve as Orthodox priests after say about 3 years?

@syd_bee3 Probably also important to emphasise its all up to the bishop. I haven't heard a solid answer on how the church sees Protestant marriages vs divorced sacramental marriages but being my wife's first and us both being converts the bar was low and our service was not somber.

Catholics claim EO has “no consensus” on marriage or contraception, when EO does. They just assume the papal magisterial model to the church when it didn’t operate that way in the first 1000 years. Ironically they're the most rigid on paper yet use annulment loopholes to pretend marriages never existed (raising awkward questions about the legitimacy of the children). It’s pharisaical.
We’ve always practiced economia, just as the West did in the first millenia. Remarriage isn’t encouraged, it’s rarely approved, and requires bishop approval (usually only in cases like abandonment), and the service is deliberately somber and penitential bc it values marriage highly.
We deal with the realities of fallen human life rather than creating legal fictions. Even their own Vatican docs (Chieti & Alexandria) admit the early Church operated through consensus and collegiality, not papal monarchy. The “messy history” argument isn’t a defeater, RCC shares those same “messy” centuries.

@ContraHeresy Or 1000 years that it was wrong about Rome being in charge and 1500 years that it was wrong about that Bible. No, the Holy Spirit has not let the faith of the Orthodox church be compromised. That is why everything else is a split off of it and we have the narrow path.
