@FrankBr05713205 They may have made power, but the head gaskets of these failed regularly due mostly to the factory composite intake manifold.

Here is a great engine cut away I have. It is a GM 3800 supercharged V6. Two series of these engines were made between 1995 and 2007. They were very reliable and durable with an iron block and were considered by many as one of GM‘s best. They delivered between 240 to 260 hp and 280 foot pounds of torque using an Eaton M 90 supercharger which was factory equipped. This engine appeared in the Buick Regal, Pontiac Grand Prix, Pontiac, Bonneville, Buick Park Ave., Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and Chevrolet impala SS but many were swapped into other vehicles. And with some simple upgrades, the horsepower could be further increased easily.

In 1970, during a severe snowstorm in Czechoslovakia, railroad workers used the jet engine of a MiG-15 fighter jet to defrost frozen railway tracks, an inventive solution that kept critical transportation running despite extreme winter conditions. A MiG-15 jet engine, originally designed for a Cold War fighter aircraft, was mounted and redirected toward frozen tracks. Its exhaust, blasting out at temperatures exceeding 500°C (900°F), was capable of rapidly melting ice, packed snow, and even clearing debris from rail lines. The MiG-15 itself, introduced in the late 1940s, could reach speeds of over 1,000 km/h (620 mph). But here, its strength wasn’t speed, it was raw thermal force. In extreme conditions where conventional plows struggled, this improvised solution helped keep critical rail routes operational. Similar jet-powered snow removal systems were later tested and used in parts of the Soviet Union and North America, though their fuel consumption and noise made them impractical for widespread, long-term use. © Reddit #archaeohistories

@itsqail Recently this civic was speeding around, weaving in and out of traffic, before cutting me off. I was seeing red. Then I read his bumper sticker. Couldn’t even be mad.

@FrankBr05713205 Sure, maybe. Except steering racks are an absolute nightmare to re and re. Probably break even after labor costs.

For years cars have used hydraulic steering racks that used power steering fluid. Todays cars use electric steering racks which use no power steering fluid. Biggest difference to car owners is replacement cost. The hydraulic rack can be had for approx. $200 to $300 on most cars (plus labor). The electric rack will set you back $ 1,800 (part only) and much more depending on vehicle and they have to be programmed after installation. Technology comes at a cost many times. I will stick to keeping a 3 dollar bottle of power steering fluid on hand for my older car.

@financedystop Unfortunately in modern cars, the body control module will not have those features enabled. Yes the wiring is there, but simply adding a switch won’t make it work.

He discovered that behind these harness panels are hidden buttons for cargo lights, fog lights, and other features. Even if the car wasn’t purchased with those upgrades, the wiring is already there and you could just “upgrade” yourself

Finally got around to getting my jack on my dump trailer fixed. Local kid came out, fixed the welds and made some gussets to reinforce it. 2 hours in my driveway and now I’m back on the road.

This post is not about the plastic radiator. Shut up about the plastic. It's about premature failure of a radiator. Radiators have been plastic for decades. They should not fail this early
