@Ottie_World I guessed I wasn't the only one going through this nightmare but hearing it from others definitely confirms the curse

Gamedev blindness is so real, you double check everything for days but a day after you submit the demo to Steam and wait for the review you instantly spot all the things you missed, such a frustrating feeling

@im_arseny Good job ! upgrading is a sticky mechanic for deeper game play + retention & i love the idea the game is about fishing for stars ( all things space/universe lover here haha )

Its certainly not easy, but i would say its about not letting yourself be overwhelmed with the mountain of tasks ahead and just staying focused on working through it all with clear goals / progression structure. AND take regular opportunities to look back at how much you did do already and how far along you are to appreciate how much achieved... Dont focus on what is not and focus on what is and whats next

I really admire solo devs. For even the tiny snippet of the game that I have done, I needed the help of a programmer, a pixel artist, and a musician. It's truly some kind of black magic to see people putting together the dreams in their head all by their lonesome.

@TheGamesDet Possibly a combo of something what took them to the game is not as promised mixed with maybe a bad FTUE or generally bad UX ? sometimes its just bot stats used lure legit people in only to discover its barely game 🤷‍♂️400k players is a dream for most of us indie devs lol.

I've been observing this for a few days. The more people play it, the lower the rantings. The lower the ratings, the more people play it. What's your take on it my dear #indiedev #gamedev?

Twitter is cool. But it's 100x better when your timeline is full with people who code and build things. I need to connect with more founders and tech people. If you're into Tech, Al, Startups, Design, web dev, SaaS, or programming, say hi 👋

@jogamedev Best not to let the large task list scare you, a lot to do is only done by starting something ! One brick at a time builds the wall 🙌

As a gamedev, my motto is "Little and Often" because making a game can be such a huge task with endless things to do - I remind myself that just taking small steps in the right direction every day is how I get to where I'm aiming to go

@uzairansar MiniMax is more likely to be ran on consumer hardware vs Kimi due to size, not going to be frontier grade but still a likely good local runner ( Qwen has great local runnable models too though )

MiniMax M3 just got added to DeepSWE. As expected, Kimi k2.6 remains the goat of all Chinese models.

This was a really good read and test, i currently use MiniMax2.5 in my local setup as the " brain " or " planner " model. Cost is becoming a huge factor for frontier models, but the more serious the project the less you can/should risk with local ran/none frontier models as they still do miss important things ( usually small but important details. ) local ran/none frontier models are great for planning, design ideas, or when its less vital to be secure or never going public they can also knock out plenty of perfectly usable code.
