@AlanShipnuck Likewise, 7 years in NYC. There are bad fans everywhere. Certainly a tough record of fan behavior at Candlestick and Dodger Stadium as well. Felt like an unfair generalization of the sports fans in those areas. More of a culture issue than a regional issue.

@OutsideTheCut I lived in NYC for years and love it still. Boston is greet to visit - was there this summer and had a blast. Not talking about the quality of the cities, just the behavior of (some? many?) of the fans.

Eh, the fans at Brookline were just as bad. The problem is NY fans (and Boston fans) are assholes. A Ryder Cup in Cali would be quite civil.

@LukeKerrDineen Security shooed me off a rope line (which I was behind by myself) directly behind a back tee at a prior BMW Champ practice round. Ian politely told him to kick rocks, I was fine and could stay. Won’t forget it. Classy lad.

Maybe the stupidest thing any American has done this week is getting Tommy Fleetwood's caddie anywhere near a heated confrontation. The guy is like 6'6", a Scouse and an absolute unit. And also, it must be said, a very lovely guy.

Dear PGA, I’ve been to Rocket Mortgage Saturdays louder than this. Yes, we are getting run over and that’s a huge part of it. But a part of it is that you have priced out a huge part of the 24-28 year-old demographic, who will get drunk and cheer like crazy.
