There are 53 Republicans in the Senate, and they will properly give Trump a good dose of deference on his nominees, so it should be very easy to get Cabinet officers in place through the ordinary advice-and-consent process. But some on Team Trump are trying to manufacture a constitutional crisis that he will lose and that will cripple his presidency from the outset.

@OwnWorstEnemy25 How do you talk calmly to people who live on another planet and convince them to return to Earth? I just don't know you you possibly bridge the gap at this point. Pain caused by their own side might be the only language they will understand.

Good thread. This is very much the state of things where I'm from for the people I talk to. People do not trust government at all and especially loathe politicians. There is no trust at all. No one is good. They're all bad and unworthy of trust. I don't know how we fix this.

@greggnunziata That was why I didn't vote for any MAGA candidates at the federal level, the risk of capitulation was too high. I'm not overly optimistic about the judicial branch either, SCOTUS will be extremely busy for at least the next 4 years, and we can only hope they rein him in.

Now would be a good time for Members of Congress to rediscover the fact that they constitute the First Branch of government and do not work for the President, not even ones with whom they share a party label.

@Atticus59914029 I don’t get this. The Democrats veered hard left. A moderate coalition would have crushed Trump. But look at the San Jose St volleyball team. People won’t stand for that stuff. And so many thought they had 2 terrible choices & chose one. Veer to the center next time.

Remember…even if WVa goes red in Senate, is there a guarantee that Justice will govern as a staunch gop vote? He was a Dem just a few short years ago
