I will autistically argue all day, at any moment, about Star Wars, why Dark Souls 2 is shit, Tipping Culture, and HoA's warlock/sus/thicc

I have a friend. His mother died and left him a little money. Not long after he and his wife had their first baby. They bought some land in the country and they built a farmhouse. He told me he's going to leave the home and the land to his children as a tangible connection to the grandmother they never knew and as a gift from his mother to the grandbabies she never got to meet.

My uncle saved $900,000 for retirement. Lived on nothing for 40 years to do it. Brown bag lunches. No vacations. Same car for 15 years. Clipped coupons until the very end. Died with $900,000 in the bank. His kids split it. Spent it in 12 months. He saved 30 years of living for people who spent it in a year without thinking about him while they did.

Bluntly: I have yet to see a benefit to attempting a “saga” over the structure they’ve used up until now. Frankly so far, things have ironically felt less connected than any two standalone expansions. Any plot points the saga has carried have been background noise at best. 1/2

WoW used to give us a new villain, new continent, new story every 2 years. Now we're in the middle of a trilogy. How are you feeling about the Worldsoul Saga so far — and do you want more connected sagas after this, or a return to the classic formula? #warcraft

singleplayer game blah blah this isn't a "sp game dead lol" post Does modding Reblivion require launching offline or did it just have no modding scene? Is it a wrong conclusion that 12 months later and nobody cares again?

All the men see this and think how adorable she is and how they would be the BEST DAD in the entire universe just to protect her... Meanwhile the women on twitter call men PDFs for just looking at a clip... What is wrong with you? Your fatherlessness is showing...

There's many layers to this, which I think can make discussions confusing. In the West: * Preserving art and history for as long as humanly possible is seen as a moral principle * Games are seen as a part of art and history, and therefore worth preserving on principle * Here, it is not considered unthinkable (from a social perspective) to break rules or even laws for the sake of upholding a greater moral principle. This attitude likely comes from western history. * A game that has reached its "End-of-service" and made unavailable is considered the same as something thrown away in the trash; it is unwanted by its owner * General feelings about large corporations in the west are very negative. There's no trust relationship. Many here regard large companies as untrustworthy at best and outright demons or villains at worst. * Companies are considered separate entities from creators, and their views aren't considered representative of the original creators. I think the Japanese view on this issue is similarly multi-layered, which is why both sides feel so strongly about it.

There's such a different response to this from Japanese fans and everyone else, most people are happy about a dead game being brought back by the community. But I've seen a bunch of Japanese fans angry about this because it goes against the wishes of Square Enix.

@omusubirolling1 I understand. The framework is different. When it comes to video games, we were raised with amazing games made by small teams of talented people. And one by one, almost all of those teams were bought and killed by big corporations. That's the difference, i think. EA is a monster.
