India and China would have greatly preferred that the U.S. hadn't fucked up the Persian Gulf by attacking a nation that can establish, and now has established, irrevocable veto power over commercial shipping through Hormuz. The most effective way for them to restore their shipping through Hormuz is to ally with that veto power so that it vetoes ships of the U.S. and its allies, rather than those of China or India.
