The Top 5 Challenges of Being Nil by Mouth:
1. The mental battle
2. The social isolation
3. The practical burden
4. The constant risk of aspiration pneumonia
5. Grieving what I've lost
But being nil by mouth doesn't mean being nil by hope. Life can still be rich with purpose, laughter, friendship, kindness and gratitude.
Puca has discovered the sofa and approves of it as a place to chill. No it's not that hideous color, that's a protective cover.
And he's learning that he can jump from the back of it to the table.
I owe y’all an apology, I’ve been a little under the weather, just not feeling good. That’s why I haven’t responded as much as usual.
I’m calling it early tonight. I’ll see you in the morning for coffee.
Good morning y’all, Happy Hump Day! It’s supposed to be 87 today with 99% humidity! Yay! I hope all of my fellow deplorable Patriots have a way to cool off!
I’m happy to see so many familiar faces back in my feed. It’s been entirely too long.
Remember, be kind
@TruckerDanUSA I remember you writing about your mom. My mother also donated her body to science. We learned from one of her neighbors years later that mom didn’t think we’d do it. However, we followed through to respect her. I hope your mom can be buried as you wish.
Hey y’all. I hope everyone is good. My mom passed October 17th, I posted a lot about her passing. She was 2 weeks from her 101st birthday.
My brother called me yesterday, and told me that mom was sitting on his front porch. No, he wasn’t delusional, her ashes were returned.
Mom donated her body to science.
We had a memorial service at the place where she lived, in November. There was no funeral. I won’t lie, it messed me up.
I had already planned to take today off. We are going to find out if we can inter her ashes in dad’s grave. Then we will tell her goodbye.
Thanks for reading this.
Puca was vocally unhappy about riding in my truck but otherwise perfectly cool with his first vet visit. Even with noisy dogs and their owners yelling at them in the waiting room.
Stool sample came back clean, no sign of worms. Doc V said he's in excellent health considering that he was on the streets two weeks ago. He was cool with being handled by strangers and wanted to play with the staff during his exam.
I haven't said this since I lost Bran Mak Morn, but life is good.
@MichaelGrahamSC Solid plan. When I adopted Tigger, he'd been through three houses. I can't imagine why. But, he panics to the point of hurting himself if I try to trim his. So I just get a lot of puncture wounds, heh.
Well...Puca actually held still long enough for me to get two pics. Dude has claws like a shark has teeth.
Then he jumped to the floor and walked over to the gate where Boudicca was staring at him. She hissed and ran away.
Patience...
Even when I try to hold Puca, he's so full of energy that it's difficult to get a pic.
He's figured out how to climb onto the bed and has decided that sleeping on the pillows is his thing.
@TruckerDanUSA Hi. It’s been several years since my last visit to Cass. That was a nice trip. Recently went to the Strasburg Rail Road in PA. Our little group of four had the dining room all to ourselves. It was awesome. I believe Thomas the Train might still be there.
Wasn't planning on adding to the household for a few years but fate doesn't care what I want.
I really hope Boudicca is accepting and adjusts easily.
Tomorrow...
