I can’t comprehend how any grouping of people would invite a failed politician like Chakwera as a guest of honour at an event. He presided over one of the most corrupt administrations in Malawi and across Africa, where billions were reportedly looted. Ultimately, he suffered a decisive electoral defeat to his predecessor, becoming a one term president. He left Malawi without fuel, without forex, burdened by the highest inflation in Africa, economically depleted, and ranked among the three poorest countries in the world. It is therefore perplexing why anyone would consider him a suitable guest of honour at a political summit, especially one purporting to champion change and excellence, for he stands in stark contradiction to those very ideals!
