Capita has been named as the preferred bidder to handle the payroll for more than 250,000 civil servants, despite its role in the current civil service pension scheme crisis. The DWP, acting as the lead department for the programme, has selected the outsourcing company as preferred provider for payroll covering staff in the DWP, Home Office, Ministry of Justice and the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. pcs.org.uk/news-events/ne…

Civil service chief operating officer, Cat Little, has appeared before the public administration and constitutional affairs committee to discuss the pensions crisis. Despite the intervention ordered by the government, stabilisation will take a long time, and there could be more than 10,000 cases where pension quotes were requested during the latter months of 2025 and were never processed. pcs.org.uk/news-events/ne…

The Government has said it would cost £99 billion to nationalise the water sector, but refusing shareholders compensation would put the cost of public ownership of water well below this. The true cost in law is closer to zero. Putting water companies into special administration brings them one step closer to being in public hands. Let's take back our water.

What's life like if you can't afford essentials? Empty fridge. Cold home. Bills piling up. Health suffers. Education suffers. Work suffers. That shouldn't be normal in Britain. The solution: link social security to the cost of essentials so everyone can afford the basics.

The crisis in #pension administration is also affecting already-retired scheme members. While retired members’ monthly payments have not been interrupted, many members with service in the relevant years must have their pension accounts changed as part of the McCloud Remedy. Around 73,000 options statements are outstanding for retired scheme members, and 20,000 for deferred scheme members. pcs.org.uk/news-events/ne…
