Nixon Matthews spoke at an 11 March hearing on House Bill 752, telling legislators: “I want to walk through what this looks like for me.” The bill passed on Monday (16 March) and is now headed to the Idaho Senate.

HRT has been used safely for cîs people forever.. The "patient safety concerns" are just the fear of trans people accessing life saving healthcare. They want us to stop existing in public, force us to go DIY and go after grey market HRT just so trans people end themselves.

Bad people don't follow rules is not a reason to have no rules. A good burgler can get by a burglar alarm, cameras and and locks. The fact that they can does not mean those precautions don't work. Same with speed limits: they don't stop truly determined speeders. But without the laws, imperfect as they are, there is no method for enforcing ANY rule whatsoever. Which is why laws about who gets to access same sex intimate spaces need to be in place.

One thing I keep coming back to with bathroom bans is that removing trans women doesn’t remove risk. It only removes some perception of risk. Women can assault other women. Men can break the law regardless of signs on the door. Bad people don’t follow rules. In most areas of society, we accept that risk can’t be reduced to zero, so we punish wrongdoing instead of restricting everyone ahead of time. But in this debate, the standard sometimes becomes: if harm is possible, access should be restricted. That’s not how we handle risk anywhere else. Imagine driving privileges, guns, etc., all being handled that way?
