Go for it; no excuses no fear! The worst that will happen is you will die; but again, no one will come out of this world alive. In any case, you may not even die. You may actually succeed. ~ @rkabushenga ~

Not every lawyer belongs in a courtroom. And that’s not weakness it’s clarity. There are several compelling legal careers where your law degree remains highly valuable, yet you can step away from the courtroom. These paths span the corporate world, where you might shape internal policies and ensure regulatory compliance. Where you could draft legislation that impacts entire communities. The financial industry offers roles analyzing complex transactions and managing institutional risk. Beyond traditional boundaries, international bodies and nonprofits also seek legal expertise to advance their missions globally. None of these make you less of a lawyer. They just use your training differently. law school prepared us to argue, not to choose. We learned how to draft, cite, and defend but never how to explore what kind of legal career actually fits us. So we default to litigation. Not because it’s right for us, but because it’s familiar. Years pass. Burnout builds. And we wonder if we made the wrong choice. You didn’t. You were just never shown the full map. 2025 taught us to survive. 2026 is about building with intention. If litigation doesn’t excite you, you’re not failing. You’re finally listening. The courtroom is one stage. Your law degree opens dozens more. Choose the one that fits not the one that was expected.

Contrary to what we might think, even compromised judges, registrars and magistrates for hire admire and respect judges of integrity like Egonda-Ntende. If you ask them to name their role models, they will not name their fellow corrupt and spineless judges. Even where they might not say it, deep down in their messy hearts, they hold the Egondas in very high regard. Here lies the irony of human behaviour and motivation. A corrupt judge will still be able to accommodate the contradiction of admiring Egonda-Ntende while at the same time remaining practically committed to his own crookedness! He will sell justice to the highest bidder and at the same time wish to leave a legacy as that of Justice Egonda-Ntende! He will smile in awe while reading Egonda’s outstanding judgements that have found their way into walls of fame of law schools, yet at the same time not care about the legacy being built by his own crudely prejudiced judgements! The most unfortunate thing is that, as the Egondas retire, we are headed to a time where younger magistrates, registrars, and judges will look up above them for inspiration but will only see well-dressed soulless merchants with legacies of causing suffering to innocent people written allover their biographies. As a country, what we are breaking every passing day will be very hard to rebuild.

Keep Left unless Overtaking! Did you know that driving in the right-hand lane (overtaking lane) of multi-lane roads while not overtaking is a traffic offense? The right lane on a multi-lane road isn’t for speeding cars but for others to pass. Sticking in the right lane forces other drivers into the unsafe illegal practice of overtaking on the left. Will you please Keep Left except when overtaking? It’s for everyone’s safety. Safe Roads Save Lives

This brave, resilient, and intelligent young girl is called Angel Blessings Atuhaire. She is 14 years old and currently a Primary Seven pupil at Kengoma Day Primary School in Kabale District. I have just spoken to her and her father, Mr. Nfitumukiza Moses, a boda boda rider in Kabale. Blessings has consistently excelled in her academics and has never performed below the third position in her class. Her father shared that he is not comfortable with her riding herself to school, but the circumstances have left him with no alternative as he leaves home too early to drop the girl at school . He was all emotional on the phone in disbelief if this was true or a dream. I discussed with both of them the possibility of moving her to a boarding school next term or waiting until she joins secondary school. They both agreed that transitioning next term would be the best option, especially since she has not yet registered for PLE at her current school. I advised the father to identify a good boarding primary school within their locality and connect me to the school administration so that the sponsor, @SheilahGashumba, can take it up from there. I have shared all the details with Sheilah. 🙏

Cera Imani has been ordered to pay Ksh.50,000 for unlawfully using an individual’s photograph on TikTok without consent. The court found that she posted and circulated the claimant’s image on her TikTok platform, exposing it to the public without authorization, thereby infringing on the claimant’s rights. The decision emphasized that the use of a person’s image without permission amounts to a violation of their right to privacy and control over personal data. The court held that even on social media platforms like TikTok, individuals must obtain consent before sharing another person’s photograph, and failure to do so attracts liability for the resulting harm and distress.

I recently had a candid conversation with a CEO who was puzzled. His Vision 2026 strategy had been meticulously crafted by senior management and approved by the board early this year. Yet, months later, the momentum felt stagnant. When I asked if the vision had been cascaded to the team, he said: "I sent the strategy document to the Comms Officer for actioning." My response was simple: "If your Comms Lead wasn't in the boardroom when the strategy was born, how can you expect them to give it life?" Here is why PR and Communications belong at the senior leadership table, not just on the distribution list: 1. Translation vs. Transformation When you hand a finished PDF to a Comms lead who wasn't in the room, you aren't asking them to strategize; you’re asking them to decorate. Without hearing the "why," the nuances, and the boardroom debates, the resulting message often feels hollow and corporate. 2. Context is King Strategy fails when it ignores the internal climate. A PR leader at the senior level acts as a "strategic sensor." They can flag potential friction or cultural barriers before the strategy is finalized, ensuring the vision is actually achievable. 3. Buy-in isn't "Sent," it’s Earned You don't "cascade" a vision; you cultivate it. If Communications is sidelined to an administrative role, the strategy becomes just another unread email. To move a needle, you need someone who understands the business goals as deeply as the CFO does, but speaks the language of the people. The Lesson: If you want your team to run with your vision, the person holding the megaphone needs to help draw the map. It’s time to move Communications from the "actioning" phase to the architecting phase. Does your Comms lead have a seat at your table?
