What can I even say to sum up the last six weeks? Without a doubt, it’s been the trip of a lifetime. I’ve seen and experienced things I never dreamed of. Throughout this journey I kept hearing the phrase “America the Beautiful.” At first I thought it was about the landscapes, and yes, this country is unbelievably beautiful. But for me, “America the Beautiful” is actually about you, the people. I’ve never experienced such warmth and kindness anywhere else in the world. Everywhere we went, people welcomed us with open arms, invited us into their communities, shared their stories, wanted to hear ours, and surprised us with their generosity. I get you have your differences but please don’t take each other for granted. This doesn’t exist everywhere. What you have here is special, and being American is special. To everyone I met along the way, thank you!! To everyone who’s followed this adventure here on X, thank you for coming along for the ride. It’s been an absolute joy sharing these memories with you all. And to everyone who’s sick of seeing my posts…you can finally relax 😂 Goodbye, America 🇺🇸

Our planet's airplane traffic this week - a new record. Over 153,000 commercial flights/day - that's almost 2 takeoffs & landings per second. No accidents - amazing! Beautiful work by @icao in Montreal, under the @UN. They should manage space traffic as well. Let's bump their max altitude from 60,000 ft to 600 miles.

Deep in the cosmic past, nearly 7 billion years ago, two colossal galaxy clusters slammed into each other at a blistering 2,000 kilometers per second—one of the highest collision speeds ever measured. The result is ACT-CL J0102-4915, better known as El Gordo—“the Fat One” in Spanish—a monster so extreme it once seemed to challenge our entire understanding of the universe. Discovered in 2012 by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, El Gordo announced itself through a subtle distortion in the afterglow of the Big Bang: the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect, where its searing hot gas left a characteristic imprint on the cosmic microwave background. At a redshift of about 0.87, this system packs roughly 2 × 10¹⁵ solar masses—making it the most massive galaxy cluster known from that early epoch. Finding something this heavy so long ago was so improbable that astronomers briefly wondered whether the standard ΛCDM cosmological model might be in trouble. What makes El Gordo truly spectacular is its violent youth. X-ray images reveal two luminous subclusters still locked in a high-speed merger. The less massive one has been shredded by ram pressure, its hot gas stretched into a dramatic trailing tail that gives the whole system a striking cometary shape. Meanwhile, gravitational lensing maps—built from exquisite Hubble Space Telescope images—show the invisible dark matter still concentrated around the two galaxy groups that have already punched clean through each other. It’s a cosmic replay of the famous Bullet Cluster, only far more massive and set much deeper in cosmic time. The most detailed mass map ever made of such an extreme system confirms the dark matter and galaxies racing ahead while the gas lags behind, still entangled in the collision. Cosmologists have debated whether El Gordo demands new physics—modified dark energy or altered gravity—or whether it is simply a rare but allowed fluke within the standard model. Most recent analyses land on the latter: extreme, yes, but not impossible given the vast volume of sky surveyed. El Gordo remains a dazzling reminder that the early universe was capable of building giants—and of smashing them together with breathtaking force.

Using data from satellites and advanced ocean models, the map reveals massive rivers of moving water, swirling eddies hundreds of miles wide, and the powerful Gulf Stream carrying warm water from the Gulf of Mexico across the Atlantic.
