Palestinian women peacebuilders🇵🇸 from the #EinElHilweh camp met w/ @LPDCommittee, @UNRWA, @UN_Women & @finlandinbeirut in 🇱🇧 to inclusive dialogue, conflict prevention & women’s leadership in peacebuilding. Organized by UN Women & hosted by Finland🇫🇮. #WomenPeaceSecurity

🚨 +150 youth, local reporters, and actors in #Lebanon are challenging #FakeNews amid the conflict — pushing back against fear and tension. Through fact-checking sessions, they’re learning to verify content, challenge misinformation, and help their communities stay informed - keeping calm amid the noise. Inform, don’t inflame. Share responsibly. These sessions are co-funded by @EUinLebanon and UN Peacebuilding Fund and implemented in partnership with @UNICEFLebanon, @IOMLebanon, @NahnooLeb & @PPMLebanon.

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec Through a WPS Writeshop ✍️, women, youth, and local leaders co-created Local Action Plans rooted in community realities, advancing women’s leadership, protection, and safety, and bringing UNSCR 1325 to life. 🧵 2/3

From policy to people ✍🏽➡️🏘️ GNWP🟣 and @PPMLebanon, with support from @WomenPeaceSec, gathered 43 changemakers in West Aley and West Al Shahar 🇱🇧 to turn Women, Peace and Security commitments into real, local action. 🧵 1/3

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec Fadi Abi Allan from @PPMLebanon guided participants through an interactive session on conflict resolution 🤝, highlighting the power of collective problem-solving. 📣 Participants analyzed pressing issues, including celebratory gunfire 🔫 & the local impacts of climate change 🌦️

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec By the end of the workshop, participants: 🧠 Deepened their understanding of #UNSCR1325 🔎 Identified key community peace & security challenges 📜 Outlined Local Action Plans (LAPs) to strengthen women’s participation in peacebuilding 👥 Formed one Local Steering Committee (LSC)

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec The new LSC will sustain collaboration between civil society and government stakeholders 🏛️ ⚠️ 11 community members will jointly develop a LAP to: 🙋♀️ Strengthen women’s participation 🔫 Prevent weapons trafficking 🍃 Build resilience to climate change

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec Bhavana Bellamkonda, GNWP’s🟣 MENA Program Officer, led a session on gender ⚧️ and the #WPS agenda 🕊️, exploring: 🔹 Differences between gender and sex 🔹 How gender roles & social constructs shape participation, power, and peace outcomes

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec Dr. Khouloud AlKhatib facilitated a powerful discussion on the #WPS agenda, emphasizing women’s essential role 🚺 in peace and security. ‼️ Participants examined how gendered language reinforces harmful narratives — and how these qualities should be recognized as shared by all.

@PPMLebanon @WomenPeaceSec 📣 #Localizing1325 in Lebanon🇱🇧 strengthened participants’ capacity to apply gender-sensitive approaches in peacebuilding. Next, the LSC will hold community consultations and follow-up meetings to monitor progress on the LAP 📜. 🙏 Thank you @WomenPeaceSec for the support
