@eeriesandwich @chooserich Our model is not unaligned. Users do regularly alternate between local and cloud using our service already. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure what else we could do in opening it up even more.

It cannot be overstated how big this news is.
Being able to run a frontier AI model on your own hardware means token costs are effectively free.
AI will be as ubiquitous and cheap as the internet itself. This is a dagger in OpenAI and Anthropic.

The supply shock sounds like less of a problem than herding cats towards consensus IMO.

@brian_trollz That's a great theoretical and very principled argument. As someone living on Bitcoin I'd rather not have the kind of volatility caused by potentially a single actor with QC access suddenly owning 8% of the total supply. Idk where I stand yet regarding this tbh.

Finding consensus on how to deal with the >1M BTC in vulnerable p2pk addresses, unlikely to ever move to secure ones, is the true challenge in quantum-proofing Bitcoin.

@niftynei I think the biggest factor was weighing these factors against already existing systemic exposure. Between reused addressed, and wallets exposing xpubs, I believe it was something like ~80% of the coin supply was/is quantum vulnerable. Hashing schnorr keys doesnt change that.

hey anon if you're starting in local AI and confused between a 5090 and a 3090 GPU, save yourself and go with the 3090.
best value card for local inference right now. invest the remaining in a scalable node architecture, more pcie slots, ram, better psu. that foundation will thank you later when you start adding more GPUs.
