What a COWARDLY decision by @CBS not to fact check the upcoming debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance. Journalists have to realize that this is not just any regular election, and that trump and Vance are prolific LIARS; they will lie without shame, and without consequence. Many football games will be played today. Imagine if the players were left to determine whether they'd moved the ball 3 yards or 4 yards, whether it was pass interference or not? Debate moderators are supposed to be impartial referees, to ensure fairness to both sides. If debaters can just make up any lie they want in front of millions of viewers, what is even the point? trump is STILL bitching about being fact checked, even though out of 33 lies, he was only checked 5 times. Why on Earth would any presidential or vice presidential candidate complain about their facts being checked, unless their plan is to tell blatant lies? If CBS is hosting a debate featuring Tim Walz and JD Vance -- who admitted that he "creates stories" and refuses to denounce his own lies about Springfield, OH -- then they are complicit in spreading his lies to millions of viewers without repudiating them. It's YOUR channel. It's YOUR platform. If someone came into MY house, and told my family things that I knew were egregious lies, I would fact check the shit out of them. I live in Eastern North Carolina. Relief agencies here are suggesting that we not travel to the areas affected by Hurricane Helene as they are in the middle of rescue and recovery operations. They do not want an influx of people into an already unstable area. Donald Trump has no business traveling to Georgia right now. This is a brazenly performative and calculated measure and is simply an effort to weaponize millions of people's trauma to aid his faltering campaign. While president, Donald Trump did nothing to help Americans during natural disasters or public health emergencies, but exacerbated them by his incompetence and abject cruelty. His Project 2025 would: - Eliminate FEMA - Eliminate the National Weather Service - Eliminate federal-backed flood insurance - Eliminate emergency disaster funding for state/local governments Donald Trump is a conman, a criminal, and he lacks any decency or empathy. The fact that he would turn wide-scale American suffering and death into a photo-op, shows again why he doesn't deserve a single American's vote. The good people of this nation should fully reject him. In times of consequence, we need a wise, intelligent, and compassionate leader like Kamala Harris, not a narcissistic sideshow clown.
