The #SanCarlosRD of the PSICC is seeking public input on the Locke Park Land Exchange draft environmental assessment. The 30-day public comment period opens March 24. To be fully considered in the analysis, comments are requested by April 22, 2026.

It’s that time of year again. Just like LeRoy Sprague and his dog Turk did back in 1955, Forest Service employees will soon begin inspecting campgrounds and other facilities to make sure they are ready for your summer adventures.

The PSICC have active logging operations going on the #LeadvilleRD. The project is located near Halfmoon Creek drainage and National Forest Service Roads 110, 110.B and 110.A.

Burning will only occur when weather permits, and all conditions of the state-issued smoke permit are met. These piles were generated from fuel and hazardous tree reduction projects.
Smoke and flames may be visible from U.S. Highway 24 and the surrounding areas.

Due to the recent accumulation of snow, pile burning is taking place on the #SouthParkRDtoday, March 4.
Treatments will take place at the following locations:
• Praise Mountain – 5 miles southwest of Lake George (Park County).

***UPDATE #2**** Turkey Tracks will open to the public again on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026. There is still an increased fire danger level and officials urge the public to remain cautious and careful when target shooting in the National Forest.

**UPDATE ** Ignitions ceased for the Rampart Range piles at 3:23 p.m. with 185 piles burned over 6 acres. Smoke will be visible for several days as material continues to smolder. Crews will be on scene daily to ensure the piles are secure.

The #PikesPeakRD fuels staff are planning to ignite the Rampart Range burn piles, located 2 miles east of Woodland Park in El Paso County, today, Jan. 26, pending favorable weather conditions.
