@DLeBlancNB Mr. LeBlanc, serious question - why are we as Canadians offering MOU's of any nature to a premier who is not interested in a strong united Canada? I support our Liberal government & I support our PM Carney. But I don't support separationists.

Canada’s government strongly believes that the interests of Albertans and all Canadians are best served when we work together. As one example, Canada and Alberta are now moving forward with a landmark agreement that gives investors certainty and unlocks the full potential of Alberta’s resources in both clean and conventional energy. With this agreement, Prime Minister Carney and Premier Smith are demonstrating that cooperative federalism works — and delivers results.   As we take note of Premier Smith’s address this evening, we remain focused on building a stronger Canada for all, in full partnership with Alberta and to the benefit of all Albertans and all Canadians.

I love Alberta. I grew up here. Built my life here. Watched my siblings raise their children here. My family built businesses here. My parents taught at the University of Alberta and helped shape generations of students. My grandfather was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to this province and played a role in keeping the Edmonton Oilersfrom leaving Edmonton. I am as Albertan as they come. But I am every bit as proud to be Canadian. So when I see people trying to convince Albertans that our future lies in separation, I reject it completely. Alberta’s strength has never come from walking away. It has come from building, contributing, fighting to be heard, and helping shape this country into something better. I will spend every ounce of energy I have defending federalism, defending Canada, and keeping this beautiful province exactly where it belongs: in Canada.

@TheCity0fChamps Uhhhh you're kind of leaving out the important part that this will cost the tax payers significantly. If you truly believe in freedom, shouldn't you be in favour of debate on the issue instead of telling people to stop complaining? I'm confused......

Some ppl in AB are freaking out about a question being added to a provincial referendum. 🤦‍♂️🤣🤷‍♂️ 10% of AB wanted that question added. Let it happen. It hurts no one. If you agree or not, vote on it. Stop bitching about it. Albertans all want the same thing. A STRONG Alberta.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has added this referendum question to be voted on October 19th “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”

A lot of things are in the air right now. One certainty though is that if independence advocates focus on taking down Premier Smith rather than pursuing independence, we won't be seeing independence. Though we may see Premier Nenshi in 2027

@TheLineBlender Important to note that Alex Steen will be taking over the GM duties in StL from Army. Whether this results in a difference in price has yet to be determined.

Problem with Oilers fans expecting to get Kyrou: Some think the price would be 1st, Howard, Savoie. That's why STL and other teams couldn't make many trades happen at the deadline. The GMs' asking prices were too damn high + NHL eliminated the double retention loophole.

@JackDan110 I spoke to him downtown during the teachers strike (I was downtown to meet friends). We walled over to check it out. He specifically ask us to sign his forever Canada petition to “force a referendum”! His exact words. We obviously didn’t sign!

Thomas literally demanded a referendum and convinced over 400,000 Albertans to sign up for one. Now he doesn’t want one. The radical left and their supporters have either been duped by Thomas or they really are that dumb. 🤦‍♂️

@JasonLavigneAB I don’t understand all the fuss… the NDP said only 20% of Albertans support separation so let’s just vote! They should have nothing to worry about… right?! Also, what’s one more question since there is 8 other to vote on.

If the rumours are true, there's two ways an announcement of a referendum question can happen Thursday. 1) Premier Smith issues a government question under the Referendum Act. 2) Premier Smith issues Lukaszuk's question under the Citizen Initiative Act. Get the popcorn ready.

🚨BREAKING: If the rumours are true, Alberta could get clarity tomorrow on an independence referendum question. This could be a major moment in Alberta’s future.

@Oiler_Country There’s 8 questions in the referendum so what’s one more?! If there’s is a huge majority that wants to stay then there’s nothing to worry about….right?

Well the UCP showed their true colours today - separatism or bust. Most Albertans do not want to separate form Canada. ...and yet ~60% overall approval rating for Smith. 2 and 2 do not equal 4 here.

Last week, two UCP ministers said they didn’t support Danielle Smith’s plan to ignore the courts and force a referendum for her separatist friends. Today, they both “resigned” from cabinet. Danielle Smith serves only the separatists. Alberta’s New Democrats stand for all Albertans and proud Canadians.
