Diabetes mellitus; 1. Alters the T-cell memory phenotype. 2. Impairs T-cell activation and degranulation but promotes exhaustion. 3. Impairs T-cell Th1 and Th17 cytokine responses, and the polyfunctional capacity for the CD4 as well as the effector and central memory CD4 T cells.
