The drums of a revolution of the hungry are beating. The situation in junta-ruled Egypt has become unimaginably difficult. Forced disappearances and arrests target anyone who merely speaks out, whether for supporting Palestine, like the Egyptian young man Shehab El-Sayed Abdel Samad, whose father died minutes after visiting his son in prison, or simply for complaining about rising prices. Most of the other forcibly disappeared carry titles such as doctor, engineer, writer, or activist. Meanwhile, drug dealers operate freely and trade openly in broad daylight Add to it the unbearable rise in the cost of living. It has reached the point where a mother found suicide to be the only escape from Sisi’s Egypt, a country where Egyptians no longer feel they have a place. In Qena, a tragic incident occurred after a 38-year-old nurse threw herself and her two children into the Nile from the Dandara Bridge. Rescue forces managed to save the mother and recover the body of her infant child, while the search continues for her daughter. Add to this the expulsion of families from their homes in order to seize the land, (video showing a family left in the street and a devastated father) If the colonial West does not move quickly to inject more money to save its client Sisi, or order its clients in the Gulf entities to pour more money into generals-ruled Egypt, the West may lose Egypt, and the domino effect will not stop there.

@adil_bach Too big of a population, with too few resources. The age of industrialisation really doesn’t help third world countries.

Gulf states have uncovered more than 12 Iranian cells in just 27 days, further highlighting the escalation by the Islamic Republic against its Arab neighbors that is reshaping the Gulf security landscape. The cells were exposed in recent weeks in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, with the latter revealing yesterday that Kuwaiti forces apprehended four Iranians linked to the IRGC who attempted to infiltrate the Gulf country by sea, a plot denied by Tehran. Sultan Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, Director-General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, told Sky News Arabiya that these cells were dispatched well before they were exposed, acting as sleeper cells prepared in advance and trained to carry out destabilization operations at a time determined by Tehran.

@jamal7300 You’d think they would’ve done this with no plan in sight? Once Venezuela is up and running, the US goes for all the home runs.

@MENAUnleashed You are right, let me skip an important ‘ibaada because …. Saudi state gets richer…? In that case, we shouldn’t sacrifice on the day of Eid in the West, because the western farmer gets richer.

Do not go to Umrah to Saudi. Hajj pilgrims from outside the kingdom peaked at 1.86 million in 2019, fell during covid, and reached only 1.5 million in 2025, six years after the peak and despite enormous infrastructure investment. Umrah from outside the kingdom rose from 6.2 million in 2016 to 18.03 million in 2025. Hajj is capped by quotas and managed for revenue per pilgrim through tiered packages. Umrah is year-round and more flexible. The structural shift from Hajj towards Umrah reflects the prioritisation of religious tourism revenue over religious access, which is a quietly significant story for the political economy of the holy sites under Vision 2030. Saudi makes more money from Umrah rather than Hajj as per Vision 2030 2025 report.

At the risk of sounding alarmist, the shortage of sulfur and ammonia is a genuine global catastrophe. Forget about oil and natural gas prices. I spoke with a friend at the United Nations World Food Programme, and he is desperate. Funding has been drastically cut and food prices have skyrocketed, limiting the ability of NGOs to help malnourished populations. We are talking about a death toll comparable to that of the Second World War, or a tripling of food insecurity-related deaths by 2027.
