UK special forces resigning en masse over war crimes probe – media In 2022, a BBC Panorama investigation identified 54 people shot dead in suspicious circumstances by one SAS unit during a six-month tour of Helmand province, with unarmed Afghan men allegedly “routinely shot dead in cold blood” and weapons planted on them. In one incident presented to the inquiry, special forces fired into a mosquito net until there was no movement, only to later find women and children, according to inquiry documents. The shooting was allegedly covered up and the soldier awarded. A UKSF officer identified as N1466 said the director “knew what was happening on the ground” and sought to “cover this up.” Normally level headed soldiers go berserk when a colleague is wounded or killed.

UAE-Backed Network of Colombian Mercenaries Exposed: Digital Tracking Reveals Route Through Somalia and Libya to Sudan and Their Role in the Siege of El Fasher, With Links to War Crimes A report by BBC, drawing on a detailed technical investigation by Conflict Insights Group, uncovers a coordinated support network led by the United Arab Emirates that deployed Colombian mercenaries to bolster the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed) during the siege and eventual capture of El Fasher. The findings point to a structured system that went well beyond ad hoc assistance. It combined recruitment, financing, transport, training, and operational deployment across multiple countries, forming a coherent pipeline that fed directly into battlefield activity in Sudan. “This is the first time we’ve been able to demonstrate UAE involvement with certainty,” said Justin Lynch, adding that the investigation makes public “what governments have long known, that there is a direct link between Abu Dhabi and the Rapid Support Militia.” The investigation is based on tracking more than 50 mobile devices over time, using commercially available data tools. Researchers combined that with satellite imagery, flight data, social media content, and open-source intelligence to reconstruct the movement of personnel from Colombia through several regional staging points and into Sudan. The data shows that the route began in Colombia, then moved into Somalia, where dozens of Spanish-language devices were detected inside a UAE-backed maritime security compound in Bosaso. The concentration of devices at this site suggests it functioned as a staging and coordination hub before onward deployment. From there, devices were tracked into the United Arab Emirates, including a military training facility in Ghayathi, where some operatives remained for extended periods. The pattern indicates a clear transition from recruitment to training before redeployment into active conflict zones. The network also relied on regional air corridors. Investigators identified movement through military-linked airports, reinforcing the assessment of organized, cross-border logistics rather than isolated travel. In southeastern Libya, the town of Kufra emerged as a key logistical node. The report documents a sharp surge in cargo flights, particularly Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft, beginning in April 2025. More than 140 such flights were recorded in a relatively short period, a significant increase that coincided with a decline in previously exposed supply routes. The shift suggests a deliberate rerouting of military logistics. Inside Sudan, Nyala stands out as the operational center of this network. Dozens of Spanish-language devices were detected within the airport area, alongside sustained drone activity. Satellite imagery and on-the-ground indicators point to a functioning operational infrastructure, including launch sites, runways, and technical support systems. The investigation also found evidence of satellite-based internet usage in remote areas of South Darfur, along with improvised airstrips believed to be used for drone launches away from conventional military targets. These elements reflect a level of planning and capability consistent with structured military operations. As operatives moved into El Fasher during the 18-month siege, the data places foreign personnel directly inside the city during active fighting. Devices linked to Colombian operators connected to networks with explicitly military labels, while other evidence points to their presence in combat roles and sustained support for the siege. Lynch said the scale of the operation, and the atrocities that followed, would not have been possible without the drone capabilities provided by these operatives, noting that their role extended beyond technical support to directly reinforcing the siege. The report indicates that the mercenaries operated within an organized formation, taking on roles as drone pilots, artillery support, and trainers. Additional reporting suggests they were involved in training local fighters, including minors, adding a further dimension to the scope of their activities. These findings are consistent with reporting by La Silla Vacía, which cited testimonies from former mercenaries describing recruitment through private security contracts in the UAE, followed by relocation through regional routes into conflict zones, ultimately ending in Sudan. The investigation also links the network to a UAE-based company responsible for contracting and payments, with documented connections to senior officials, reinforcing the conclusion that the operation functioned within an organized and structured framework. Following the fall of El Fasher, widespread atrocities were documented, including killings inside medical facilities and executions captured on video. Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court have classified the acts as war crimes and crimes against humanity, while UN investigators have said the violence bears the hallmarks of genocide. In a separate statement, Gustavo Petro described the fighters as “spectres of death,” calling their recruitment a form of human trafficking. The United Arab Emirates has consistently denied supporting the Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed), dismissing such allegations as unfounded. However, the investigation presents a detailed, multi-layered body of technical and field evidence outlining a clear trajectory from recruitment and financing to operational deployment. Taken together, the findings point to more than isolated incidents. They outline a cross-border system combining recruitment, financing, training, and operational deployment, one that has materially influenced the balance of power on the ground and is closely associated with the escalation of violence in one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. This investigation does not stand alone. It adds to a growing body of evidence, drawn from multiple independent reports, satellite analysis, sanctions actions, and field investigations. The picture that emerges is cumulative and consistent, increasingly linking the United Arab Emirates to the support structure behind the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed). #Sudan #RSFisTerroristOrganization #UAEKillsSudanesePeople #UAESponsorsTerrorism

NEW: HSI Investigation Leads to Woman Being Sentenced for Citizenship Fraud After Hiding Involvement in War Crimes Homeland Security Investigations Washington D.C. @HSI_DC tells @BorderHawkNews they uncovered that 53-year old NADA RADOVAN TOMANIC, formerly of Connecticut, had an intensely dark past and exploited the immigration system. She received a 30 month sentence for her fraud at the end of last year. The fraud charge stemmed from Tomanic concealing her involvement in torture amounting to war crimes while serving with the Zulfikar Special Unit of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s. She participated in severe physical and psychological abuse of Bosnian Serb prisoners, which she lied about during her naturalization process. “The defendant tortured and abused prisoners in Bosnia and then lied to U.S. immigration authorities to live in the U.S. and become a citizen,” said Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva for the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “Homeland Security Investigations was instrumental in uncovering the facts of this case, ensuring accountability for an individual who committed torture abroad and fraudulently obtained U.S. citizenship,” said HSI Washington, D.C. Special Agent in Charge Eric Weindorf. “This case highlights HSI’s commitment to investigating human rights violations and pursuing justice for victims of war crimes worldwide.” Since 2003, ICE has arrested more than 5,200 individuals for human rights-related violations of the law under various criminal and immigration statutes. During that same period, ICE obtained deportation orders against and physically removed 1,178 known or suspected human rights violators from the United States. ICE has facilitated the departure of an additional 208 such individuals from the United States. Currently, HSI has more than 1,900 active investigations into suspected human rights violators and is pursuing more than 1,985 leads and removals cases involving suspected human rights violators from 955 different countries.
