If someone is gracious enough to invite you to play at their private golf/country club, and the only way you can make it work is to show up 5 min before the tee time and leave the second you walk off the 18th green, just politely decline and hope you get another one later on down the line. Your host wants to HOST you - -have breakfast/lunch pre-round -show you the facilities -take some time warming up as you catch up on life -introduce you to other members -have post-round drinks and maybe invite the significant others etc. Treating these invites like a muni speed run is insane behavior.

You know what would prevent this? Not having federal employees with full taxpayer funded benefits and a retirement package doing the screening at airports. The Overton Window has shifted so much that most people just accept the way to "fix" this is for congress to fund the TSA. Well I'm old enough to remember when every airport had private companies contracted for screening and this was never an issue. Some airports, San Fransisco for example, still have a private company doing the screening and operations there haven't been impacted. @dieworkwear I always find it strange when folks talk down their own culture by saying their food is not worth paying for. A 24 hour bone broth is fine dining, not cheap eats. At the same time, the price of pho is too damn high. We’re gonna cross the $25 rubicon soon.

My woke opinion is that some cuisines, including Vietnamese, are grossly underpriced partly because of racism. Certain cuisines, such as Japanese and Italian, are expensive bc they're part of "high culture." But Vietnamese food requires a ton of labor and tastes just as good.

@martycombs5 Federal lands are a dream to us easterners. No federal lands in NYS at all. We used to have place to safely shoot for free in NYS in state lands but the DEC stoped that shit. No thanks to people leaving junk at the ranges as well, but It was timely with stricter gun laws.

Years ago I took a job with a company in San Francisco. The agreement was that I’d commute for a couple months then relocate. (This was before remote work was a thing.) Ten months in, the CEO said, “You’re not moving here are you?” I replied, “Nope.” I hated everything about it — the never-truly-warm weather, the what-can-you-do-for-me culture, and the filthy city itself. It looks great in photos tho.
