Each household will receive KSh 4,500 per month, with withdrawal charges, for two months, March and April 2026. The first cash disbursement cycle, scheduled for 20th March 2026, was completed.

The cash transfer programs targeted the most vulnerable households across 2 sub-counties: Laisamis & North Horr. In Laisamis, the initiative focused on Oltorot, Ngororoi, & Arapal communities. In North Horr, it reached Gas Centre, Barambate, El Boru Magatho, El Gufu & El Mudha.

With generous support from @christian_aid , PACIDA successfully conducted community mobilization, profiling, verification, validation, and registration for cash transfers for the most vulnerable households in Marsabit County.

The programme aims to support 4,492 vulnerable households across North Horr & Laisamis sub-counties. PACIDA & partners are now seeking County Steering Group ratification & technical guidance to ensure the intervention is effectively coordinated & aligned with county priorities.

Facilitated by the World Food Programme, the session provided a platform to present the "Lisha Jamii" Drought Response programme. This three-month initiative, running from April to June 2026, focuses on integrated cash transfers and nutrition support.

PACIDA recently joined members of the Marsabit County Steering Group (CSG) to deliberate on the findings of the Short Rains Assessment report and harmonize humanitarian interventions.

The forum drew groups from Maikona, Hurri Hills, Kalacha, Forole & Elgade. The forum culminated in the formation of the Maikona Ward APEX VSLA Platform to coordinate & strengthen VSLAs, enhance financial empowerment & have a collective voice in community development.

PACIDA, through the RANGE Programme (Resilient Approaches in Natural Rangeland Ecosystems) in partnership with @mercycorps (RANGE, PRIME & Movement & Mobility Cross-Border Project) convened a Maikona Ward Village Savings Loan Association. (VSLA)

This project is designed to boost fodder production and bolster the resilience of pastoral livelihoods.

Through the RANGE program (Resilient Approaches in Natural Rangeland Ecosystems)—funded by the @NLinKenya Kenya through @mercycorps,PACIDA has begun rehabilitating 50 acres of degraded rangeland in Forole, Marsabit County, as part of the Movement & Mobility Cross-Border Project.

As the workshop continues, partners are uniting to ensure early action is predictable, locally driven, and directly responsive to community needs across ASALs.

The workshop allows the partners to evaluate progress while documenting lessons learned. Participants also reviewed a budget analysis by @oxfamkenya & the Institute of Public Finance, which assessed fund allocations & spending gaps across Marsabit, Garissa, Tana River & Nairobi.

The After-Action Review & an Alert-Based System Review Workshop is underway in Nairobi, bringing together partners from the Kenya Cash Consortium, @Acted, @oxfamkenya, @Concern, @Kenya_IMPACT, @RACIDA_Ngo, @TUPADO_ & @SNDAfrica under the ECHO-funded project.

Humanitarian actors said that 3.27M people are facing severe acute food insecurity. This represents 18.5 % of the affected population – nearly one in five people are in need of urgent assistance. Of these, 2.87 million people are classified in Crisis (IPC Phase 3).
