@KemiBadenoch @Conservatives Could’ve used that £3b to pay Drs properly…
English

Doctors are on strike today for the 15th time since 2023, costing us £3bn in the last 3 years.
Starmer promised to sort it, even gave them a 28% pay rise...it didn't work.
Time for serious action. The @Conservatives will ban doctors' strikes, like we do for the army and police.

@esccroads when will the roadworks be finished on Kings Drive, Eastbourne please??? Causing absolute chaos past the hospital and I’m regularly driving past after 9am and there is never anyone working!
English

@esccroads when will the roadworks on Kings Drive, Eastbourne be finished??? Absolute nightmare for getting to work and regularly driving past after 9am and the seems to be no one there working???
English

Absolute joke of a company @SouthernRailUK , on a very lengthy diverted train via l’hampton from Gwick arpt to btn. Got to hove to be told have to go via Preston prk to get into btn because there wasn’t a platform available. As if they didn’t know the train would need a platform!

@LNER @PedroCosta2107 Great weekend to schedule engineering works
English

@PedroCosta2107 Good morning, there is engineering works over that particular weekend, so part of your journey will be completed with Rail replacement. Bear in mind this is the 1st bank holiday and it will be likely to be busy. To help you complete your journey visit NRE.co.uk.
English

Hey @LNER where are the direct trains from London to Edinburgh on the 2nd of May? Heeeeelp
English

@Official_HUFC I’ve never interacted with Hartlepool FC ever, and this post has been shown to me due to the biased twitter algorithm just because the player is called Charlie Kirk, and @elonmusk and X try to push a right wing agenda
English

11' Charlie Kirk is shown a yellow. 🟨

@ChironSen @wesstreeting Well the BMA keep saying there are 30,000 doctors applying to 10,000 posts. So surely their figures are unverified as well as it isn’t publicly available information?
English

Fully aware of that.
Unique applicants per post are not routinely published and usually require FOI requests. In the absence of applicant level data, applications per post remains the only metric available. Yes it’s an imperfect one.
The CMO also refers to applications per post, which have risen sharply and Streeting reposted ‘this is what we’re trying to address’. One interpretation of this rise is increased risk hedging through multiple applications by one applicant. A response to uncertainty in recruitment outcomes. Why else would applicants apply for multiple specialties all of a sudden? And yes I know some would regardless of the wider context.
The 4 to 1 figure used by Streeting is undefined. Without clarity on whether this refers to applications, unique applicants, or another denominator, it cannot be scrutinised nor can the offer on which it was based off.

English

You missed the part about emergency legislation to deal with UK prioritisation, which will kick in for the current application round - reducing the ratio of applicants to places from 4:1 to *less than* 2:1.
Was than an oversight? Or are you wilfully misleading BMA members?
DoctorsVote@DoctorsVoteUK
Don't accept imitations. Vote down this weak offer. 30,000 doctors applied for 10,000 jobs last year and they're offering just 1000 recycled "local" jobs this year. Do you need a calculator @wesstreeting? Vote NO in the online poll against the offer. Vote YES on your paper ballot for further strikes.
English

@ChironSen @wesstreeting These figures are numbers of applications per post, not numbers of individual doctors applying for specialty training.
English

Oh the irony when it is you who is wilfully misleading BMA members
Help me find the competition ratio of 4:1 in the data below. It’s all from Round 1 for August 2025:

Anaesthetics 12.56 to 1
Cardiothoracic Surgery 73.70 to 1
Clinical Radiology 11.27 to 1
Community Sexual and Reproductive Health 98.50 to 1
Core Psychiatry Training 21.83 to 1
Core Surgical Training 8.57 to 1
General Practice 4.91 to 1
General Practice and Public Health Dual 167.15 to 1
Histopathology 9.47 to 1
Internal Medicine Training 5.27 to 1
Neurosurgery 26.71 to 1
Obstetrics and Gynaecology 16.65 to 1
Ophthalmology 21.54 to 1
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 3.50 to 1
Paediatrics 5.63 to 1
Public Health Medicine 28.53 to 1

@RupertLowe10 What do you say to the 46% of people who identity as atheist, compared to 43% who identify as Christian? Are they not welcome here either as it’s a Christian country? Are you as offended by atheists as you are by Muslims?
English

@GBPolitcs Maybe he’ll find it in his Christian heart to ‘love thy neighbour’ and welcome those born less fortunate than himself and feeling war/poverty into the UK
English

@TheBMA @BMAResidents you should be balloting doctors separately over pay and training places.
English

10 million people leave:
Rent will go down 35%
2 million social housing units will come onto the market.
Tax could be reduced significantly .
Wages would rise by 30% at the bottom end.
Congestion, rubbish, stabbing, murder and rape would massively decrease.
What’s not to like ?
@RupertLowe10
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10
Deporting illegal migrants is just the start. If a foreign national is living on benefits, failing to contribute, unable to speak English, living in social housing? The answer is simple. Go home.
English

@ShabanaMahmood new plans are deeply concerning. The right to freedom of speech in the UK is a shining beacon to the international community. Restricting this by limiting protests is a dangerous slope. I voted for labour, but becoming increasingly concerned by @Keir_Starmer
English

@antmiddleton So you’re saying that if you were mayor there were be more intimidation of minority groups and more hate on our streets? Interesting stance.
