As per RTI details shared by @keshavagarwalep, CBSE reportedly collected ₹3.09 crore for answer sheet photocopies and ₹20.09 crore through re-checking/re-verification in 2024-25.
Dear @sanjayjavin — with #OnScreenMarking raising serious concerns among academically strong students over unexpectedly poor outcomes, what is the targeted re-evaluation revenue collection from Class 12 students for 2025-26?
Was OSM planned as an examination reform or a money-making revenue model?

@cbseindia29 Was OSM introduced to improve evaluation or increase re-evaluation revenue under
@dpradhanbjp ’s leadership? Students now pay per subject & per question to fix possible OSM errors. Quite an innovative funding model. @PMOIndia @EduMinOfIndia @sanjayjavin @PIB_India @PIB_Edu

@ndtv @AshwineSingh Several academically strong students scored low after OSM. Despite doing well in entrance exams, many now face uncertain admissions and severe stress. Will CBSE take ownership if students lose college admissions

@cbseindia29 We don’t need reassurance —we need corrective action. If students are reporting widespread unexpected discrepancies after #OnScreenMarking, the priority should be transparent review and fixing implementation issues, not shifting the burden onto students through paid re-evaluation

Message to Students
It appears from social media posts that many students of class XII Board are anxious about their results/marks and are attributing it to change of assessment scheme i.e. On-Screen Marking (OSM) mechanism re-introduced this year. The Board is extremely sensitive to their concerns and is alive to addressing it accordingly.
The CBSE reiterates that student well-being is of paramount importance and, therefore, has attempted to address all possible issues which could arise. The key benefits of OSM are uniformity in evaluation with adherence to the marking scheme prepared by experienced CBSE teachers. The marking scheme also contains alternative methods of answering so that children who answer deploying alternative methods are also graded.
If any student feels dissatisfied with the result, there are clear and transparent avenues available, including verification of marks, access to evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation. For those feeling anxious or uncertain, tele-counselling support (1800-11-8004) is also available. They may also reach out through the email resultcbse2026@gmail.com.
We would encourage students and parents to directly use these official channels to seek clarity and support, for any unanswered doubts. Every concern deserves attention, and no student is alone in this process.

Students expressing sorrow, confusion & frustration over unexpectedly low marks are now being met with threats of legal action and fear of mark reduction. Concerns around #OnScreenMarking deserve transparent review, not intimidation.
@PMOIndia, are students now being threatened simply for asking accountability and fairness in evaluation? How can this be acceptable in a system meant to support and encourage students? @EduMinOfIndia @cbseindia29 @sanjayjavin @dpradhanbjp @PIB_India @PIB_Edu @PTI_News

#WATCH | Delhi: On Class 12 examination results, CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj says, "The CBSE is an institution that works in the best interest of the students, and we operate with complete transparency. We evaluate approximately 1.25 crore answer scripts; there is a possibility that an error may occur somewhere. To rectify such errors, we offer certain facilities to our students. The first facility allows our students to request a copy of their evaluated answer scripts. The window to request these answer scripts will open on the 19th, and students may apply for them until the 22nd. Once they receive their answer scripts, they can review them to check if there are any errors within them. If they identify any errors, they should make a note of them; subsequently, a second window will open from the 26th to the 29th, during which they can apply to report that there are issues or discrepancies in their answer scripts that need to be addressed. If any error is detected—and if our panel of experts confirms that an error indeed exists—that error will be rectified immediately. Furthermore, if correcting that error results in the student being entitled to higher marks, those additional marks will be duly awarded. It is also imperative to clarify here that, conversely, if the correction of an error results in a lower score, the student's marks will be reduced accordingly..."

Students worked hard for months, only to be failed by faulty servers and careless evaluation.
CBSE owes them transparency and proper rechecking. This cannot be swept under the carpet.
I’m worried and surprised that no one is talking about or taking action on this important matter. Students are not lab rats, and no one has the right to test or experiment on them with faulty and defective OSM technology.

Dear & respected CBSE, @cbseindia29
If the Board truly believes that the evaluation process was fair and transparent, then please allow students to access scanned copies of their answer sheets FREE OF COST and provide FREE re-evaluation for genuine cases.
A middle-class student should not have to pay thousands of rupees just to verify whether their hard work was checked correctly. 💔
This is not just about marks.
It is about trust, mental peace, and justice for lakhs of students and parents across India.
Please stand with students in this difficult time.
Transparency should be accessible to every child, not only to those who can afford it.

Dear CBSE,
Students are asking one simple question:
“Was my copy checked properly?”
If checking was fair, show the checked copies.
We don’t want free marks.
We want transparency.

CBSE’s Commitment to Fair, Transparent and Equitable Evaluation
It has been observed that following the declaration of the CBSE Class XII results, several posts have appeared on social media regarding the assessment under the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, particularly in relation to marks obtained by students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
The OSM system was introduced to enhance transparency, fairness, and consistency in the evaluation process by ensuring stepwise marking, which has long been a salient feature of the Board’s evaluation framework. The system aims to promote uniformity and objectivity in the assessment of answer scripts across subjects and across regions.
Another key feature of the Board’s evaluation system has been the opportunity afforded for re-evaluation provided to students who may be dissatisfied with their results. This reflects the Board’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and equity.
Accordingly, this opportunity will be made available this year as well. Students may apply for copies of their evaluated answer books, and in case any discrepancy is observed by them, they may request for corrective action. These processes are required to be undertaken through the mechanism prescribed by the Board.
The Board once again reiterates its unwavering commitment to maintaining a fair, just, consistent and equitable assessment system, ensuring that they are in accordance with the transparent and robust evaluation practices adopted by the Board.
